Hihi, welcome to the group. This topic is more of historic measure than fantasy. In actuality ninja are not warriors or assassins but spies.
I think Mace meant for us to put warrior classes.

If you had the chance to be any warrior from any point in time, from any war- who would you want to be?

For example, one could say that they would have liked to be a Spartan, or a Templar from the Crusades. I can't personally decide who I would like to be but It would be interesting to know what the rest of you would say .

See?

Then can I be a samurai? That would be historical right? Or am I just going into lala land?

Yep!

Spartan, though I would be no good with the swords they used, im quite capable with a spear.I very much would want to have be at the battle of Thermopylae to see if I could have allowed the spartans a fourth day, either way it would have been a good death.

I would want to be several things (not in any particular order)

Spartan- to see what it is like to want to die protecting a country, and truly thirst for a great fight

Samurai- To live by a code in which many others do and to see what the Tokugawa revolution was like(a dying think in this day and age)

A warrior in the warring states period of China- to see the fights and differences between battles

A samurai. They are very honorable and I would serve my lord until I meet my death. I would try to influence others to avoid corruption, but can't disobey my higher up unless I want to be killed. =\

How very noble of you.I wouldn't be able to handle all the restrictions, rule, and politics that apply to the samurai. Seppuku is not for me either.

A strategist is one who plans out methods to conduct war, they are not innately a warrior. Though your examples act as both.

i would want to be a samurai or knight cause honor and justice are very important to me i would also like to be a spartan cause even today there are remember as great warriors they weren't even afraid to die they were actually honored to die in battle which i would like to experience not by gun but by a blade.

Not exactly.
First off, an assassin is someone who kills people for money. A spy is someone who under disguise gathers intelligence.

Shinobi no mono or Ninja have no fighting arts to their name. The jintonpo states disguise wearing, acting, infiltration, and espionage as the skill sets. No martial arts. So no, Ninja were not assassins.

but a warrior is not just a martial artist or weilder of a sword or spear and such but some one who uses there minds and skills as well to get a job done and by job i mean anything dealing with people weilding weapons and such. at least this is what i think but what i think is not exactly described as the right answer but my opinion and in fairness i think that your answer is also correct.

Well being that a warrior is one who practices combat or warring and martial arts literally means skill in war, it would be contradictory for one who does not practice skill in war or combat to call themself a warrior.
And to learn to properly utilize a weapon, you would learn it through martial arts. You can't just pick up a stick, swing it a couple of times, and call yourself a swordsman. Those are what we call "Backyard Samurai" and eventually end up doing idiotic things that end in hurting themselves or others around them.

Well there is no verifiable evidence that ninja partook in combat.

there are many definitions of a warrior that being one of them but there is no certain one and to call yourself a warrior when you do not train for combat but you may still call yourself one.

and there may not be evidence that a ninja partook in combat but we do not know that they did partake in combat.
