I would say Touko would make the better soeur (correct French spelling) because she is not a crazy stalker. Additionally, Touko and Yumi can share their mutual admiration for Sachiko-sama (We all admire her, don't lie). One last thing in Touko's favor, she likes Yumi but she understands Yumi's love for Sachiko so she wouldn't get as jealous as Kanako would.

Touko without a doubt. Yumi is a strong person but she needs a strong personality to support her, like Sachiko. I also agree with insomniac's assessment too.

My first reply was "certainly, Touko's best for Yumi" (she is stronger, more interesting, etc - and quite many people who have read the novels hinted that she actually Will be Yumi's soeur) - but then the "spirit of Contradiction" suggested that Kanako should not be written off so easily..
Ok, she has this obsessive adoration of Yumi that has nothing to do with reality, and can seem spooky at times - but why not give her a chance?
After all, in the life of every person there is place for delusions, disappointments and change.. Marimite shows a lot of character development, why think that Kanako's growth (because of being Yumi's soeur) could not make a beautiful story?

touko is indenial or unconscious to her feelings of likeness to yumi since thyre both looking up at sachiko.. while kanako is bein controlled by her feelins.. and they both dont claim that they want to be yumis' soeur.. theyre opposite and unique in their own ways.. and there are certain situations that yumi and touko are bein drawned together.. and kanakos' feelings for yumi is somethin more than sisters i think.. its hard to choose... if the situation doesnt change for kanako its impossible for her and yumi to keep up on each other.. though i think kanako has some similarities with yumi's personality in the earlier season only she is more somehow weird.. i cant make my choice..

^^I see what you are saying here. But I will politely disagree about Kanako's feelings for Yumi

I'll say this first, I think the next season will explain Kanako's intentions and she will probably be revealed to be a pretty level headed person just troubled because of her hatred towards men...probably due to her father. Her reaction in OVA 3 made things clear she does not care for her "father" or men, such as Sachiko. Perhaps for a more troubling reason than Sachiko, I think it's been explained in the light novel, though I can't say for sure.

I'm not sensing the "more than sisters" feelings towards Yumi. I think she's admired her from afar for so long that when Yumi "shattered" her image it really threw Konako for a loop. So now, they will have to build their relationship from scratch and Konako will figure out I'm sure that Yumi is still a good person even though she speaks to men.

As I mentioned before, I think Touko is the best fit for Yumi. She has a very strong personality and she cares a great deal for her but it's obvious she doesn't know how to express it without being a pain in the ass. I think a lot of her frustration that she directs at Yumi is because Yumi doesn't have a lot of confidence in herself or her relationship with Sachiko. I don't think she's jealous of Yumi and Sachiko but I think she's looking for that connection. That's just my opinion.

To expand on what AnimeJock said, I can see that Touko gets frustrated and irritated with Yumi's lack of confidence. However, it has been hinted, especially in the 4th OVA, that Yumi is becoming more assertive and flirtatious (i.e. Sei) with her soeur candidates. Touko is the more ready and capable to become Rosa Chinesis in the future of the two, much so than Kanako. However, Kanako might surprise us all.

i like touko than kanako...because kanako is just a fan of yumi but she doesn't care on what yumi feels unlike kanako always helping and understand her even she is one of her rivals for the love of sachiko...

Well...since I read the novels (A lot more juicy details than the anime):

And please don't think that it's weird for someone like me to be a fan of Marimite. Even I was surprised at how much I liked it. It just had a REALLY good story that I couldn't ignore.
