Hmmm yes... fan service galore... can't expect less from GONZO there... and as many have put it, "oo panties... ooo look, more panties... AWW WET SHIRT!!! mmm bras... *nose bleed* ooo more panties....... loli??" And that sums up a lot for many people... But since I was so influenced by the manga crowd that said the anime doesn't stay true to the manga, I had to take an unbiased take on both... and I have to say, I like both equally...

Yes the anime jumps around the story, yes you could almost tag it as an ecchi genre... but for it to have garnered such a following, obviously it did something right... Even though the events were tampered with, they story is still solid. I mean there is no real fault with the way they told their story. It worked out at the end, and they served up a pretty good ending for the first season. So I couldn't critique this with it being compared to the manga... as the manga is way ahead, and it almost feels like a different story at the end of season 1...

The action, the drama, the "romance"... It all played out.

As for the manga. That's a totally different story... But I will critique what it has been up to so far... The art picked up, and got better on the latter half... Since I read the scans, I can't say much about how well the literate aspect did... The plot is fore filling, indepth... and the various story arcs aren't distracting... They are solid arcs, and they do a good job in conveying the atmosphere... Defiantly a good read up till now.

As for those who haven't started one or the other, though I can't particularly recommend read/watch the other medium, the stories have a different feel to each other... So it's just another take of the same plot. The anime watchers will probably enjoy reading the manga as well, as opposed to the manga readers converting to the anime... but the readers will get to pick apart the differences^^

Due to poor grades, Tsukune Aono, an average high school student, has been unable to get accepted into any private academy of his choice. By exceptional accident, the only school to accept him turns out to be anything but ordinary; the school is attended by youkai disguised as humans. Fearing for his life, he attempts to escape only to meet Moka Akashiya, a beautiful girl who just happens to be a vampire. Despite this, Tsukune decides to stay at the academy, hiding his human nature from students and teachers. Tsukune also discovers that when the rosary around Moka's neck is removed, her true nature emerges.

Though some reviews of this anime have not been too good, I believe the series itself is. The anime, based on the manga (to which I believe is far better and a little more tasteful), stays true to the plot already outlined. The animation itself is good and the music throughout the show itself fits well with the background, scenarios and theme intended. Though, I must say that I am not too fond of the opening credits, it isn't, however, all that bad. Overall, I originally started watching this series simply because I enjoy the manga (though I do not read that many manga to begin with), and ended up liking it as it grew on me.
