everydaygamer wrote: seriously what dubs did people listen to that turned them off to them? i mean most recent dubs are pretty good. You'll find a lot of people on CR that are part of the "all dubs suck" crowd. No surprise, given that most shows here are sub only, and I can think of only 2 that offer a dub as an option, and 1 that is dub only. Two items you would no doubt find to be true of 99% of the "all dubs suck" crowd: 1. They rarely even listen to dubs. (Who would listen to something they thought sucked?) 2. The number of series they first completed as a dub before watching the sub is closer to zero than 5. Back more on topic, I expect if Reborn was licensed for DVD sale in the U.S. or Canada, it would almost certainly be dubbed, and if for broadcast, it definitely would be. As much as some of the dub-hater crowd may deny it, dubs are still more commercially viable. I cannot think of a single series longer than 26 episodes that was sold on DVD here without a dub. |

If you've played Persona 4 and heard his Teddie/Kuma voice that's pretty much what I imagine Reborn sounding like in english, all he has to do is be a bit more serious. I do think the series is gonna be dubbed soon though. Viz might pick it up this year since it and Tegami Bachi are the only JUMP titles left they don't have that aren't already taken, and Tegami Bachi is too new. |

If Reborn! was dubbed, then it would almost certainly come with the subbed version on the DVD too. Which means you can still watch it in the original Japanese <-- is it just me or does everyone seem to forget this?
The only company that I know of that doesn't do that is 4kids (correct me if I'm wrong). And they won't license it because there would be too much editing to do, even for them. If a company were to license and dub it, it would be Viz or FUNimation. SENTAI FILMWORKS has been snagging up some good titles too, but they don't do dubs. If I were to voice a character, I would do Lal Mirch, because she's my favorite girl in the series. Oh, and out of curiosity, does anyone even BUY the manga (like me). Or just read it online on some illegal website? |

I have had to remind people of this before, but some people appear to be offended by the mere presence of the dub (or that it is the default). SENTAI FILMWORKS has been snagging up some good titles too, but they don't do dubs. That may have been true before this year, but I think you forgot about the Clannad dub they are doing: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2010-03-15/sentai-filmworks-announces-clannad-english-dub |

I don't even watch it, I just saw a post somewhere that said that FUNimation was dubbing it. And I doubt that they will be the one to license Reborn! anyway... |

people are just stupid thinking dubs are awful and can never be good and shouldn't exist. well look you are free to have a preference to what language you want to watch anime in but don't go dumping on people who do enjoy the English dubs. i sometimes wonder if this thing goes on in other countries where anime is dubbed into other languages or is it just the English speaking crowd that's this annoying. |

Most of the complaints I have seen about dubs in languages other than English have been from people in the Philippines, and dubs into Tagalog. |

I was thinking it seemed like something 4kids or something would license and put on cartoon network, but i think just because it's about the mafia it hasn't been yet.

I wouldn't really mind it being dubbed but I would get pissed if they changed it to much. It would be kind of fun to hear what they do with the character voices though...
