Catholics are Christians. They serve and belive the same God- Jesus Christ, that's why it's called 'Christianity'... Regarding the 'mocking' thing, I think some would say that some people who claims to be Christians appears to 'mock' the Catholics because of some of their beliefs and other religious activities.

Haha, not many people have taken a western history course or a history of religion course I take it? I think people are merely arguing the label anyways...nobody is arguing that there isn't a difference between the 'christians' and catholics.

Well, first, for one- I'm Catholic. But I had a lot of Christian friends back then too. I remember having some strange encounters with this issue of religious difference.

Some of my Christian friends had this absurd notion that I prioritized the virgin Mary in church. Others believed I prioritized saints above anything else. Others believe Catholicism is just a small cult thing.

So like, if I wasn't their friend, I'd prolly smack them. But it's not their fault. Yes, I acknowledge saints, I acknowledge Mary - but no, they're not MORE important than the teachings of Christ, the notion of repentence, forgiveness, all that righteous jazz with the hope of obtaining eternal life in heaven. Oh yeah, I AM NOT A CULTIST.

For those who think Christians mock Catholics - I'm sure it happens. People bully and mock and taunt others for all sorts of other stupid reasons too. But if you take a step back and analyze the situation, Christians mocking Catholics are only doing it out of blatant ignorance; or worse, they're only apart of the religion because of their parents, not for their own sake.

Hell (haha, get it?), can you even imagine that kind of scene?

"Haha, you believe in Jesus."
"NO U."
"Oh snaps."

in the end their all the same, theirs only 1 difference between lets say a "basic" christian as I am, and a catholic, and thats the emphasis on "saints" in the church, thats it.........but in the end we all believe in saints also, its just that they actually pray to them. Not as a God mind you, just as a medium. lets see if im right or if im about to catch hell fire

Okay, my two cents.

I'm a Traditional Catholic. That is, one of those within the Church who continues traditional prayers and practices before the Second Vatican Council messed everything up and then some. As in going to the Traditional Latin Mass, praying the 15 decade rosary, fasting from meat on Fridays and so on.

When I read "Christians mocking Catholics", I think the poster was talking about "born-again Christians", which is a common term for Evangelical Protestants. Many in that faith community - though not all - think Catholics aren't Christian because they don't follow the tenets of their branch of Protestantism. A lot of it is due to their ignorance of the Faith. But a lot of it is due to the scandals that erupted ever since the Council, including the Council itself.

And I regret to say it, but far too many Catholics are what are called CINOs - which stands for Catholic In Name Only. They haven't been taught the Faith, or were given bad examples over the years. And so they either left the Faith or pick-and-choose what they want to believe. So because of this, a lot of Evangelicals wrongly think Catholics aren't Christian.

So those of us who are Traditional Catholic have a lot of work ahead of us cleaning up their mess over the decades. That and educating folks about what the Faith truly teaches and being good examples to everyone we meet.

Thank you all for letting me put in my two cents in on this. Again, thank you all.
