well, imagination is like unspoken art... it allows the person to freely exhibit him/herself in an imaginative way...

- actually we use imagination to conceive reality as well. Not through our senses (perhaps) but through how we interpret what's going on and what it means (reply shewants)

- as before: without imagination we would not imagine what our lives should be like, so there is less chance of insanity (less, not nil, beacuse it may be a flaw, like a genetic defect) (reply geene)

-imagination may lead to temporary sadness as well, like when we imagine something we want, but can't have (reply sagepriestess)

- That depends on how good you are at it. It may also show how bad you are at it, your flaws, or other limitations (reply Milia)

- You can build without imagination. Or are you saying that beavers have much imagination? 8(reply anon)

It seems like people have a very positive view on imagination. It is howver the basis for hopless yearning, sadness, pain, frustration. Like when one desperate in love (I'm told, no personal experience) long for a person he/she can't have. Or someone comparing a pointless life with a productive one. This is because of imagination. Imagination tells you how good life could be with that person, imagination tels you your life is pointless and makes you compare your life with another imagination tells you is productive. I could give thousands of examples, but let's stop there. The point is that it is our imagination, usually by comparison, but also through making us just conceive our lives (you can be without "dreams" but still see your life/situation as miserable), that makes us feel bad, desperate et cetera. Without imagination we would not have drawn these conclusions. Only physical pain and longing would apply, not mental. You can not decide imagination is just "good", without ignoring these facts.

well i think imagination is what makes life more like liveable...without it life would be so bland...conversations wouldn't be the same and like we would be robots in a sense

not quiet, robots have no real thought processes, or emotions, they are made with instructions and programming limits, and i dont think they could pull off being human with out having a polymorphic, and metamorphic coding which i dont think would make them human either, but in the sense of dulness ya we would look like robots

well true robots have no real thought processes but i believe imagination somehow ties in to all your emotions. i mean when you read a book you can easily imagine all the emotions that a character is going through and create a mental picture as well and feel or if someone tells you a joke about a certain situation and not just a pun or something, you imagine before you laugh. for example "when i was doing ....." you have to imagine the situation otherwise you wouldnt get it and would not laugh at all.

so i yea i dont know. i wanted to say more but i cant write it out for some reason haha. but yes without emotion i think we would be like robots

Imagination is very important and is the most vivid when people are young but as they get older, it dulls out or is put away becuase of the structured and factual society we live in.

if people had no imagination, there wouldn't be anything.... people get far just by imagining... they could imagine wat they're lives would be like in a few years, that could determine them, or scare them so badly, the would want to change their course, so they coudl pick a better one... imagination, most things would be boring if we had none... bookz, movies, mangas, animes, ect.... everybody needs an imagination... u can imagine that ur gonna be a millionare in 10 years, and try to achieve it... ^-^ people need their imaginations... i know i do... imagination is the bridge to perceptions of a good life to live up the future, to learn from the past and to understand the present...
