Are there people who are actually Xenophobic o_O? ---fear or hate of anything foreign or strange ( People, customs, etc...) without much reason.
I know the term is there for a reason, but does anyone know or have heard of anybody who actually has xenophobia?

No, is actual hate/fear of anyone who is an outsider, or anything that you don't know about.

Yeah, unfortunately I do know a few people like that. In their defense, they can't really help it - it IS a phobia after all, and the definition of phobia is an IRRATIONAL fear/hatred.

Ya, but thats why its so confusing to me lol, I can't visualize someone having this. Everything is supposed to be foreign and then become familiar when we learn about it. Same goes for people, at first you don't know them, but then you familiarize and learn about them.

what you guys are talking about is just social phobia

xenophobia is what racists are and ultra nationalists who want their country "clean" and rid of immigrants, their customs and such.

Yeah they can fall under that; however, it relates to things as well. This is the definition I got from www.dictionary.com :

an unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of that which is foreign or strange.

Lol, in Code Geass that weird glasses girl was, like, terrified of the Japanese...of course, that's just an anime. I dunno if it happens in real life or not. I'd be surprised if it didn't, though.

Xenophobia is either fear or dislike of elements considered foreign or unknown. I don't think that it is usually applied to an individual but is instead a social phenomenon. An example on a countrywide scale might be the institution of an isolationist governmental stance in order to protect a countries social institutions. A real world example would be the view by many US citizens that Mexican immigrants are ruining our country. This second example does work when applied to a single person although it is arguable as to whether this fear/dislike should be associated to racism or xenophobia. If the fear is because of racial differences it would be considered racism, and if due to cultural differences it would be xenophobia.
