	Permalink Reply Quote Posted 2/3/09 Well, when I first started drawing, it was more off of examples and my own artistic sensibility (this was like 10 years ago though). BUT if you need books, then get them if you can't self learn. I would recommend the "How to Draw Manga: Sketching Manga Style" series, just because it's more modern to what people would expect, and the explanations are somewhat clear, could be better, but compared to others, it's a god send. It's composed of five volumes I believe, I also recommended it to some up and coming artists, and I received good feedback from them. Though, in my opinion, before you start drawing in a manga style, I say that you first learn REAL human anatomy, because it will absolutely help you in the long run, I learned the anatomy first when I was young, but it was mainly through children's books, I didn't really start researching until I turned 10. Now I more enjoy realism blended in with some manga, though most of the realism is presented in my backgrounds. :p

KeiXIII 922 cr points Send Message: Offline	Permalink Reply Quote Posted 2/3/09 i can't draw anything from my imagination, although when i copy a picture it turns out alright.. id score myself about 7/8 out of 10 for copying an image lol.. i hate using how to draw manga books, mostly there're by non asians - let me be clear that I have nothing against them, but i dont like their drawing style hence I don't wanna incorporate their techniques/ideas into my drawings.. those books in particular also seem to make girls super muscly which in my opinion.. kinda gross >_< its like drawing a super woman for a shojo manga lol
