EDIT: to me it just seems like a cheap imitation of samurai champloo in some parts....and its' got samuel l jackson so u know it's gonna be weird..i'm gona check it out and see how much i can take without laughin or trying to rip my ears off

Well i have to say that the animation and art werent bad per say, but as for anime it jus doesent cut it, it doesent seem like anime, more like a cartoon, i belive it to be a mix of Samurai Champloo, Basilisk, Berserk and Boondocks <-all of these with Samurai Champloo replaced with Naruto, are the only animes that modern day americans (with a handful of exeptions and ofcourse our own Crunchyrollers) know about.
But it does seem like americans are trieing to get into the ever growing market of anime, manga. I dont belive they will succeed for they have all these ethnic groups over there who yell bloody murder at everything, do you honestly belive that a country that doesent allow people under 18 to watch FLCL can come even remotely close to achiveing something like Evangelion, the awnser "NO!!", sadly they will only come up with cookie-cutter plots and sub-par animation when it comes to anime, but im just ranting here now.
Anyway back to the trailer:
from what i can see i think its just a random American-Shonen wich will be greatly messed up since they add these pointless GORE scenes to make up for their lack of plot, this is all that i can see, atleast as of yet. They have these huge headbands and probably a new adversary every episode since they gotta have a huge maketing campaign going with mercendise and all.
Anyway i do belive that it wont be anything that great, but never the less ill prolly watch it.

twitch..
it's made by funimations, (american company)
so technically not "anime"

although i totally agree about how americans are leaning towards teh anime style

we had boondocks (artwork i loved, plot...hell nah they need to shoot it)
and then avatar (loved it )
and now we got afro samurai...

now if everyone starts to watch it these, makes my life easier for the white peepz who mock me at school...but yah they do have an anime style w/ a mix of cartoon...
and i'm pretty much kewl with that...just not sure if we shoudl call it anime

that's my problem...cuz should stuff like afro samurai be called Anime if it's not made by a japanese person. i remember there being a simliar arguement at another forum about Boondocks and how half the members called it anime and the other half didn't want to label it that. ( i almost got banned for my comment just cuz i was the moderator for the section and the grand master was against it) I don't know should we call this anime?

edit: um..just throwing it out there...
i dont know, i personally woudlnt' call it anime but people are entitled to their opinion

I knew you were going to say this. So lets take a look at Wikipedia.

"The Anime Definition

Linguistically, the anime definition is subject to interpretation. In Japan, the term does not specify an animation's nation of origin or style; instead, it is used as a blanket term to refer to all forms of animation from around the world. In English, main dictionary sources define anime as "a Japanese style of motion-picture animation" or "a style of animation developed in Japan". Thus, non-Japanese works are sometimes called anime-influenced animation if they borrow stylistically from Japanese animation.

In western countries the word is used usually only to refer to animated programming of Japanese origin, with the term "cartoon" or "animated series" used for most other visual styles. The online anime database AniDB generally defines anime (in the singular form) as "an animated, professionally produced, feature film created by a Japanese company for the Japanese market". However, some anime are co-productions with non-Japanese companies like the Cartoon Network. Thus, anime is no longer specific to the Japanese market."

okay you can go on about debateing wether it is or it isint anime, for as long as it would take you to discuss wether O.J Simpson actually did commit the murders, but lets NOT do that, look at the trailer and write youre feelings about it, i wont say that this isint anime because it isint made in JAPAN, since alot of Korean animes/mangas just plain rock, BUT i will comment on the art style not being very animeish but rather Animated Motion Pictureish, it looks like alot of movies do, but in the long run the show still has some pointless Vengance plot and an omnipotent samurai, who does Neoish stunts against crossbows.....
But lets try to keep the fighting to a bare minimum until it actually airs k?
