It depends
1- I'm not marry
2- I don't have anybody to take care of(children, dad...)
If that's the case then I wouldn't mind giving up my life for 10 strangers.

Survival is in human nature, so no, I wouldn't.
Posted 4/2/08
Yeah it depends who they are, and if they needed me as a specific person to help them...I'd probably do it...

yeah i would
because i wouldnt be able to live with myself if i allowed 10 people to die instead of myself
so either way i would end up dying
one way there's 11 people dead
or the other there's just me

hahaha

if a situation arose where your could save 10 random peoples lives from all over the world for giving up your life, would you do it?
I dont think i would be able to. I think that 80%of people would look out for number 1, but there are some people who are an exception to that rule.

No, and there's a couple reasons why.

First of all, i don't subscribe to the rediculous ideal of Utilitarianism..

Second, Why should my life be any less important then the 10 random people - Perhaps it might change with a significantly larger number.. say 10 billion people. When it's overwhelming odds, then, utilitarianisic views make sense.

Third - http://www.cracked.com/article_14990_what-monkeysphere.html Read about the monkeysphere, see if things make more sense.

Fourth - if i were to die, there would be negative reprocussions... such as my daughter would be without her mother, and would then be raised by MY mother (trust me, ten dead people is better - my mother's insane.)

Fifth - i'm an objectivist, what would my death truly accomplish in this situation? What's the rational for those ten people to die?? Why are they dying? What's the probable outcome of their future vs the probable outcome of my future?

No, I made a vow to not take my life .__.

Besides, I don't have enough heart to care about ten random people I've never seen or met.

It's like my 'Media and Information-Knowledge' book says. When it comes to news, you'll be more upset by hearing two persons dying in your town than 1000 dying in a place far away from where you live, that is, unless someone you knew were there.

And, would my death truly save 'em? What if half the persons I saved, would die the day after due to starvation? Then my death would be even more pointless.

i would like to say yes i would give up my life for these people, but to be honest. i'll say fuck that. i don't even know any of these people...

i'm not selfish or anything but why?

if it was to sacrifice for someone who i actually know then yes. i wouldn't think. i have no use, better to give it to someone else.

Stolen my words.

+1 to what the young man said as quoted.

its a hypothetical question, say these random people were kept hostage, and the terrorist says they will free everyone in exchange for your life 100% guarentee. basically would you end your life to save them.(this is just an example
