Change is inevitable, evolution is inevitable (in the world we live in). Even putting this in a hypothetical situation where change/evolution isn't inevitable, that would imply no one would care or notice enough to create change, thus resulting in a scenario where people are fine with the way things are. "Don't fix it if it ain't broken" so to speak.

And if we don't know what we're missing, where's the problem? =)

Here I thought you were referring to the present time, but you're referring to the flintstones. jk. The world in whole isn't modernized yet. There are still places that lack in technology more so than others. In today's world, you have the choice of living with modern technology or not.

People are bound to seek and harness technological tools to help better their own lives. However, the danger of technology depends on who's hand it falls upon. Teach a person to fish. Now, what will that person do with that new found knowledge? Some people are bent on power hunger, and some are more of the giving type.

Still, it's a jungle out there, so watch out no matter which civilization you live in.
