Here's a list of the *worksafe* visual novels which are currently available in English: http://vndb.org/v/all?q=;fil=tagspoil-0.tag_inc-235.lang-en;o=a;s=title

Please note that the link above includes old and new commercial products, freeware and indie games, translations and material originally written in English. Most of what you'll find are Windows games, but there are a few for consoles and portable systems.

Umm...the link just takes me to Crunchyroll's main page XD;;

I typed in the URL, and later used the "hyperlink" fuction to make it a working link. Either I made a mistake, or a mod changed it. Either way, copy the text, and paste it in a new tab or window. I just tested this out, and it worked.

But besides sifting the lists of the Visual Novel Database, here's other places to find worksafe VNs:

* The Lemma Soft forum at http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums has freeware and independent visual novels. Mostly worksafe.
* The #VisualNovel group at Deviant Art at http://visualnovel.deviantart.com Again, mostly worksafe.
* Insani at http://insani.org . This group used to translate demos and freeware games. Most of the best stories are in the Altogether section. Yup, it's also mostly worksafe.
* The all-ages section of Mangagamer at http://www.mangagamer.com/allages

For those who are interested in a story that's somewhat different, be glad... TLWiki has just finished its translation of Katahane. You can learn more about it here: http://tlwiki.tsukuru.info/index.php?title=Katahane It does include some content which is not worksafe, but this story is centered around narrative.

Those R07 things are just the latest trendy thing. I think Ever 17 is the all time best, but opinions are what they are.

Hourglass of Summer. The full version, not the PG-13 rated one the NA got. Though I played it prior.

You never forget your first visual novel de gozaru.

I have yet to play a visual novel better than the Muv Luv trilogy. That thing is freaking epic. I'm going to play Ever 17 after I get over how awesome Muv Luv was.
