You can check for people who know how to speak korean at this thread:

Besides that, I see no reason for this thread to be locked, since we have an "I Want to Learn Japanese!" thread... or something to that effect.

I'll just rename the thread a little.

why wasnt that one locked o.o

Learning hangul was a lot easier than Japanese for me. Think of hangul/the Korean alphabet as pieces of a puzzle you put together. The following site is a great place to start.

http://www.indiana.edu/~koreanrs/hangul.html

Not sure where you're located in Texas, but you can always search for language exchange friends via Craigslist.org and Skype.com

Good luck!

Korean is very easy to pick up. Everything is phonetic. Learn the characters, learn the sounds and you can read hangul. Theres really not that many letters either.

I heard that forum is good for learning. But please do not beg for translations there.

Good luck. I would recommend getting some textbooks or other misc. materials from a bookstore (tapes, etc) to help though. Hearing a language helps.

Good luck.

consenantsLㄱ= g ㄴ=n ㄷ=d ㄹ= L ㅌ=t ㅅ=s ㅍ=p ㅊ=ch ㅈ=j ㅁ=m ㅎ=h ㅂ=b ㅋ=k ㅇ=ing/ong ㄲ=stronger emphesis of g. it

sounds like the ㅋ. same with all the other ones. like ㄸ ㅃ ㅉ. the vowels are:

ㅕ= ya ㅛ=yo ㅠ=you(the sound "you" not the word you) ㅜ=ooㅏ=ahㅓ=ohㅗ

=oohh(stronger than the one before)ㅔ=ehㅐ=eh(same but a little different)ㅑ=yoh

i think im pretty accurate but please dont say stuff like "your wrong!" cause i think i might have let out a consenant or something. sorry!

I Know How To Speak Some Nihongo (Japanese), & I Am Aiming For Mandarin Chinese Next (They Are Going To Be Big In The Future), But I've Always Wondered About Hanghul (Hope I Spelled That Right :sweatingbullets)... I Mean It Looks Nothing Like Mandarin Or Japanese...

Oh Well,
