korean alphabet quickie:
consonants:
ㄱ: "g"
ㄲ: "gg"/"kk" its similar to "g" but it has a more forceful sound (i dont know how else to describe it)
ㄴ"n"
ㄷ"d"

ㄸ"dd" like "ㄲ" its similar to "d" but more forceful (try this: say thunder but instead of placing your tongue at your teeth to create the "th" sound, place it on the roof of your mouth right behind your teeth and you should create the "dd" sound (ddunder :D)
ㄹ"r" or "l"
ㅁ "m"
ㅂ "b"

ㅃ "bb"/"p" once again...the forceful "b" sound. (the only thing i could thing of was the old pepsi commerical...bba da bba bba bba..the joy of cola~ ^^)
ㅅ "s"

ㅆ "ss" as in scythe
ㅇ i guess you could say "ㅇ" has no sound. it just takes on the sounds of the vowels it is placed with. (unless it is placed as an ending sound (ie: 상)...but that gets more complicated ^^)
ㅈ "j"

ㅉ "jj" i dont know hoe to explain this one..except...well you know what i said above...
ㅊ "ch"
ㅋ "k"
ㅌ "t"
ㅍ "p"
ㅎ "h"

vowels:

ㅏ "ah"

ㅐ "ae"/"eh" as in egg
ㅑ "yah"

ㅒ "yeh" as in yet
ㅓ "o" as in long

ㅔ "ae"/"eh" as in bed
ㅕ "yuh" (the same sound as "ㅓ" but add a "y" soumd in front)

ㅖ "yeh" (if you havent noticed yet, everytime the vowel looks exactly like a previous one ecxept with and added dash (ie: ㅔ vs ㅖ) it creates the same sound with a "y" sound before it...so i dont have to keep explaining..)
ㅗ "oh" as in cold

ㅘ "wah" as in (the "w" sound plus the "ㅏ" sound (this is so hard to explain in writing -__-;;)
ㅙ "weh" as in wet
ㅚ "wae" as in when
ㅛ "yoh" (same concept... "y" plus "ㅗ")
ㅜ "oo"

ㅝ "wuh" as in water
ㅞ "wae" web
ㅟ "we" as in...we (or the french word oui ^^)
ㅠ "yoo"
ㅡ "eu" as in hood

ㅢ "ae"/"ee" (you have to combine "eu" and "ae" or "eu" and"ee" but say it kinda fast to get an overall sound of either "ae" or "ee". if said properly, it does sound different from ㅐ and ㅔ)
ㅣ"ee"

the letters in bold are the basic consonants and vowels.
i guess thats a start....
