1. put a treat in your hand and close it.

2. let your dog smell your hand(w/ the treat in it closed), then start saying "shake paw" or "shake"

and if it smells it, most likely it will start pawing at your hand (thats ok)

just keep saying it until it gets it right and be patient.
then when u think your dog is ready u can finally try w/ out a treat, with your hand open(and always give them a treat if they do it right and be sure to praise them!) good luck!!^^

For any trick, It takes time & patience, for sit.
1. Say the word Sit, while gently pushing on the puppy backside.
2. When he sits, praise him, & give him a small treat.
3. Repeat. Soon you will get to where you don't have to touch him for him to sit.
Just remember always praise. Dogs are different, some take more time than others, my dog Kia learned to sit in about 5min.
Oh & only teach one trick a day. You don't want him to get bored.
