money is pretty much everything unless it is love since friendship you have to have an object that came from money to interactwith them sadly that is the truth

Imo no. But sadly in this modern-day society money is everything; so much so that having money is considered a form of "manliness".

Money buys everything.
So money is everything.

Money has the potential to buy you happiness, however the amount you need for happiness depends on the user.
Some need a little, some need a lot.

Ex - If you can't afford food, can you be happy? On the flips side, if you make just enough money to do what you love, it enables happiness.

Lumber and Nails aren't a roof over your head.
Crude Oil is neither Gasoline nor Plastic
A bundle of wheat isn't a loaf of bread.

Money can help you get a lot of things. Having money can make it easier to concentrate on what makes you happy rather than worrying about what you need to survive. Money and power have an incestuous relationship. But don't mistake the tool for the the goal.

Money can get you a lot but it IS only a tool. and IS NOT the only tool.

Don't confuse the means with the end.

Money IS NOT everything.

Disagree. You need money to have access to food , water and shelter.

Unless your totally self-sufficient. But nearly everything belongs to someone else, including land to hunt and live on so your a bit screwed there too.

Everything just needs to be free, man. People should just create products for the good of themselves and others, and people should serve themselves and others just for the sake of caring.

Money is just a unnecessary intermediary.

It's a necessary intermediary because people suck.

Well you can use the money to buy friends, lovers, houses etc but will you be happy by getting all that from using money? If you are, then yes money is everything.

I honestly don't see how you can 'buy' friends. The best you can do is 'rent' them and there's a word for that.

Don't confuse necessary with 'everything'

No one says Air is everything. But try doing with out it. (come to think of it Air is one thing you don't normally have to buy. If anything the pursuit of money is making our air less beneficial)

Food is Necessary. People who think food is 'everything' are looked down on as pathetic 'little' fatties.

Why should I accept that money is 'everything' just because I need it for SOME things?

Money is just a necessary rationing device; a system kept in place to facilitate exchange and trade in order to distribute resources properly due to scarcity (well that's not always the case sadly).

Money CAN be a lot of things to people. It's a source of power. Though not the only source. It's a way to 'keep score' to externally measure your self worth, though not the only way. It's very much a common and effective means to many ends. Though it is not the only means, nor should it be confused with the ends.

imagine this. I seal you up in a room with nothing but a nearly unlimited supply of the coins and bills of your choice.

OR

I seal you up in a room with people you care about and care about you, plentiful supply of good food and clean water. AIR. and a vast supply of a variety of entertainments.

Which would you pick?

It's not Money we want. It's the things we can get WITH it. Thus it is NOT everything.

No one works for free... but most people want a job that's more than just something they drag themselves into every day in order to make a living. Many people seek out jobs that are part of their identity, "I AM..." not " I do..."

Money is not everything.

Like someone else has mentioned above money is for the most part just a tool. It's one of the quickest, most flexible and most efficient tool we have so predictably we have all become dependent on it and we find at times it works so well that we see nothing else. In the modern world, money is a necessary tool because our basic wants and needs usually depends on things made, provided or owned by others. I think the fact that money has become such a basic and necessary tool can lead people to then believe that money is everything and that view can lead to highest value and significance given to money itself rather that what we use it for. The idea behind is that it's supposed to make it easier and faster to trade things like labour, skills, inventions, possessions, services, etc... but money has no value by itself.
So I agree that money isn't everything but that doesn't mean it isn't an important or necessary tool. When in the right hands and used properly it can work quite well.
