Nah, Oshin was the ultimate jdrama. Half of japan watched it and it was freakingly long at 297 episodes (for japan)

as much as i love watching jdramas, for some unexplainable reason i've avoided watching these "classics" except for parts of beautiful life and kami sama mou sukoshi dake.

for this, let me just give you the ranking of my favorite "classics"

1) hitotsu no yane no shita (yousuke eiguschi and fukuyama masaharu, 1993 and 1997)
2) mahiru no tsuki (oda yuji and tokiwa takako, 1996)
3) aishiteru to itte kure (tokiwa takako and toyokawa etsushi,1995)
4) saigo no koi (nakai mashiro, tokiwa takako, 1997)
5.5) kindaichi shonen no jikenbo 1&2 (domoto tsuyoshi, 1995 and 1996)
5.5) bokura no yuuki ~miman toshi~ (domoto tsuyoshi and domoto koichi, 1997)

i know it's a drama poll but i couldn't help put in kindaichi

not sure if they have 1&2 on CR but if they do i suggest you watch it. hitotsu no yane no shita will make you laugh and cry and mahiru no tsuki will make you cry so much.

whooops . . . just realized i like a lot of tokiwa takako's old drama

these are not classics...XDD (1995-2000) how could u consider tht classic..?

cheers! ^ ^v

Well not many people here would have watched Oshin, so i thought it would be better to not go so far back in time. It was around this time mid 1990s that jdramas became popular outside of japan (from memory). They probably would not be considered classics compared to the really old stuff in japan but those dramas never really reached such a wide audience :p

I agree, many ppl watch drama because of idols/fav actor/actress but there are still alot of good old drama/movie in CR.. Thanks =)

Suprisingly Maho no joken is 2nd, since i couldn't find it on CR, i thought it would have been less popular. The Tackey effect?
