Is it possible these days to ever do something original? Ever since 2000 and the internet booming more and more original content seems to be zero to none. Everyone early on who started the internet show business is making a success from it while everyone who starts now just seems unoriginal and somewhat boring. Websites all look the same to some extents and everything that is made that involves the use of the internet must in some way beat it's predecessor. WoW killers when it comes to MMO's, the YouTube for <subject here> when it comes to video streaming sites, the Myspace replacement for community sites, and so on. There are too many things that are supposed to just top each other these days, no one seems to understand that the original will always be the best? Sure Google Video was before YouTube, but YouTube made their own site and community within it, which was original. What do you think when it comes to what is original these days?

I guess the more people get used to a site and the more they hear about other people using the site, the more they trust it. Depends on publicity perhaps?

Yeah, it's quite agreeable that things are getting less and less original, but that's really understandable. The graph depicting original content would have a positive gradient and a negative 2nd derivative. (=3)
We're having a LOT more educated people, and there will be millions of those people who are constantly thinking up ideas. Many of them would appear to be, or ARE, original, but then that asks the question on the limit of human imagination. At what stage will every single thought and idea our minds can conjure up, be already thought out, classified and used as the basis of literature? Some people are probably already in this state. Who knows?

yea alrite so the first thing of it's kind will always be the best but they have to maintian that originality when they have competitors who copy there ideas which like can't be copyrighted ... like you said about youtube and google video ... yea ok so google vid was the first but i think youtube had a better community and publicised themselves more and grew to be favourite ... can be said for many other things such as search engines ... google over msn although microsoft are pissed cause google is supposed to be longer to type

Some people eat shit and throw it back up all the time... not anywhere close to the majority... but people are into that kind of stuff.

Its kind of hard to think of something "original" with so many other people just making similar shit to everyone else.

You know I was thinking, what if every musical note combination has been composed? Then would anything you play be considered copying?

Take a look at this.......maybe in the future this cat will be copying:

Well what's so great about originality? I could make a youtube video of my dog watching paint dry, but even though thats original I doubt that its very interesting. I mean seeing the same thing a million times is boring, but seeing something re-done really well can be interesting (Pokemon).

And why is that every time I hear someone complaining about unoriginality, they never take any steps to do anything original themselves?
