I know that there are lots of Chinese living in Western countries, so is it hard to get Chinese food? Is it expensive?

i live in london, england

Like any food it can be expensive... but you can also get chinese food very cheaply... its not hard to get chinese food here.. but its definitely very anglicized..or westernized.

For example, while there are tons of chinese restaurants... (like everyone in the city has a local one!)... i've only ever been able to get dim sum in Chinatown... which isn't really a good place to go to eat if your not chinese or dont speak it...

and its very difficult to know where to go, one theres TONS of them in a very small place, and they could be brilliant or terrible. and they all look really similar to the untrained eye.

I havn't seen anything like some of the stuff you posted pictures of.. i should probably go to chinatown more, but i the last place i went while it had menus outside, inside it didnt have menus or prices... you couldnt understand what any of the food was... it came round on these trolly things, and alot of things looked very similar... the food was actually very tasty, but it was still an unpleasant experience.. one that luckily i wasnt paying for, otherwise it would have been alot more unpleasant.

so basically, i dont know the things that might be obvious to a chinese person... its probably easier to get chinese food if your chinese... but they probably have to put up with alot that isnt satisfactory to them... chinese food made for a so called western taste...

Well I've once been to China town in London once and we went to Joy King Lao if I'm not mistaken... the owner of the shop must be from Hong Kong since they converse in Cantonese.

Well I was pretty surprise about what you said, I mean the shop is set up in a western country, shouldn't they have it in English? anyway the food that's served in trolleys are probably dim sum, were they covered? If you do want to try good chinese food, go to Royal China, I think they have branches everywhere, or maybe 4seasons(the duck is really good) but it can be real pricey... I supposed for your case, its better to go with a friend that speaks Cantonese , I believe there are a lot of Hong Kong people there...

Well, most of the food you see in the pictures I posted up won't be found in restaurant, they're mainly found in road side stalls or hawkers and they are real cheap in my country...
I don't know whether they can be found in London. I've been to London once and so I don't know much about Chinese food there.. that's why I posted the question...
