Hmmm i have to disagree with you Lusulpher.
If time travel to the past is off limits, wouldnt that make you unable to travel back to your own time? thus whats the point in makeing a time machine if you can just freeze youself...
Traveling to the past however also seems unimaginable to me since it would inevitably create a butterfly effect that would forbid you of traveling to the past..
Only way i see timetravel as possible is that you travel dimensions, travel back in time, force your time to wrap into another dimension BUT leaving your old dimension intact and at the same time leaving you unable to return there, and with that i dont see any reason why scientists would want to send info into the past if it wouldnt change anything...
Also YOU CANNOT meet your future/past self for if that is to occur we would have to be the very first time dimension, wich is highly unlikely but not impossible..

I dont understand Dularc, in multidimensional theories why would meeting an alternative version of yourself necessarily meen u were still in ure origional dimension? Surly the fact that u actually travelled back would ensure that u were indeed inside an alternate dimension (the 1 where all particles that make up person X travelled backwards in time.)

I see time travel the same way as Dularc BUT the multiple dimension theory is very tricky. If there were as many dimensions as there are possibilities (in other words infinite) we would have to choose which DIMENSION to travel to and not what year or century. I my theory there is infinite number of "MEs" and whenever I'm traveling to the "past" dimension I am able to choose whenever I want a dimension with or without me that is identical to the original one with only this little difference. |

I think its possible. And the butterfly theory (or w/e) its called is crap. If you change something it was meant to happen cause if you completely altered history you would never go back in time and it would have never happened.

hmm i'ver heard a lot of theories and even one of the people that r most reknown for their theories on time travel came to my skoo.. he was a relli smart polish guy unfortunately i onli understood half of wah he was sayin cuz he talked as if we all had a doctorate in phyisics n all dat.. but from wah i can remember the key is to travl faster than the speed of light in order to do so.. but i think we r still far away from dat considerin that we cannot even get that close to the speed of light even with our fastest jets (forgot especific name).. but in the future who knows we might have a chance.. i think it would b better for me to travel to the past.. theres a lot of regrets i have of things i culd have done.. plus theres a lot of things i would rather undo

it's possible just go on plane half way round the world you'll see how............
and techically we're travelling through time now depending on our speed of movement......
And if i could go YEARS to the future i would wanna see how the world ends.........i reckon we all get nuked xD!!

If it's possible, I wouldn't do it. I know I watch too much movies, but I still believe that if you change one thing in the past, the whole future could change.
But, if what I just said, ^ wouldn't happen, then I would time travel a whole lot!!!

Time travel is could be possible, not with technology we have now nor the brain power people have now. to fathom time travel is not capable by the human brain. but also TIME is the true issue. to travel through time, we would have to know the true Time for the universe. Our perception on time is earth's revolution around our sun, but that is not actually time. to figure out the true time of the universe and traveling through that would be completely different. because 50 years on earth could 0.0056 seconds in the universe. Also traveling through time would also imply time is a tangible, physical, substance. actually occupying space, which we simultaneously occupy. I personally believe time travel is possible to an extent, but to pick and choose where you would want to go in time is a different story all together.

Possible? Maybe. Should we? I don't see the point, the whole prospect of time is so unimaginably complex in the first place, why make it more difficult. It all fits together perfectly, anyway, even if you "mess" with time, but still, I find geometry hard. Time physics? Yeah right. |
