A rant about governments in general
Posted 10/3/07
I`m tired of always having some governing body tell me how I have to live my life .

Why is it, that just because I happened to be born somewhere , that I am expected to follow the laws of the land ? Where , just where, is my free will, my ability to choose and follow through without someone else bringing their justice down upon me , what exactly gives them the right to decide what is right and wrong .I certainly never had any say in this .

You have all said it before " i hate such and such law, its pointless and pedantic"
to which some one will respond " if you don`t like this country , then go somewhere else "

Where exactly do you expect me to go ? To another country in which i will have to follow someone else's rules ? Its saddening , that every handful of earth on this planet has been claimed by someone , and that they feel the need to force their beliefs and rules upon others.

anyone want to add anything?

solution: achieve a massive amount of income(money), create an island away from the countries and start your own nation , just dont get terrorized by the other nations in the world

Some kind of social contract is necessary because that is the only way to structure society in an efficient manner, insuring that common interests are upheld on at least a superficial level. The problem is, the people on top usually care about promoting their own interests only, and will use their power to attain even more, crushing anything on their way, including human lives. Maybe governments would not be bad if they could be established as purely organizational structures. And of course, while there are many countries, problems will persist. The only way to ameliorate the governmental structure of society is to eliminate the corrupt elements (kill most political leaders of today's world) and then abolish the concept of different countries (seriously it is ridiculous, we all live on the same planet). I would call it the challenge of the millennium.

Hm, I see your point...
BUT
Without government, we would all be like pack rats, struggling desperately to find a way to survive. It would be every man for himself, and may the best man win. We would be oppressed by groups more powerful than our own, and killing and thieving would have no end.

See what I mean?

I'm reading Crossfire right now about JFK's assination... and the government... it hides a lot of things from us... it's also scarey how if then want to get rid of someone... they really can... 0_0... anyone strongly connected with the JFK assination "mysteriously" dies... things just don't add up as well...

so yeah the government does things to keep us under control... but somethings are not just right...

the subject of government... there's are so many conspiracys around it @_@

A government is a means to order. Just as it has been throughout history it shall be today that the confinement that is the good of the majority be kept solid and unyielding. Mere anarchy will instigate chaos, followed by destruction. With our technology in weapons as of now, that will not be allowed to ensue, for the coming of that such day will bring Armageddon. Living by the construct of another is the price we must pay in exchange of our sentience. Many have tried to struggle against such a tyranny in the past and thus Democracy was formed. But now we are presented with a new problem. The oppression is no longer the whim of one man vs. the people of a nation. The problem now is a much more subtle one that we have almost accepted into our society. "The oppression of the minority by the majority." And in conclusion, such oppression along with the means to oppress (rules and laws) will always be with us until the day the entire human race as a whole achieves transcendence from this mortal coil that is our bodies and the desires and impurities contained within.

I'm not sure that anyone will care what I have to say on this, being as how i just signed up yesterday.
but...

governments by nature have great flaws. The most obvious of this, is that no one set of rules will apply for everyone. Imagine your in a room with 10 people. You wont agree on every topic, with all ten of the people in that room.

The thing is, a group of people has to have some sort of order. You cant kill that guy, and if you do, here's what we're going to do about it. By the way, dont steal her purse. we frown on that as well.

The basic laws are necessary anywhere, and I truthfully have a hard time believing anyone could create an educated argument against them. (ie, dont kill, rape, steal or abuse).

However, as the group gets larger, the need for more laws is created. Some for order, some for basic safety.

I break the speeding law's every day, but I do realize they are there for a reason. I mean, its just a bad idea to drive 100mph down a small street, in front of an elementary school, at the time the kids are getting out.

All nations will have flaws, for the simple fact that they are created by people, and people are not perfect. Some nations have huge flaws, some have many small ones...but all nations will have a great number of issues. It really is unavoidable.

Mankind does require law and order, we have ever since we have come into existance.

As far as funding the government, well...I freaking hate paying taxes. but, at the same time...whichever government you are in, does take care of you to some degree, (unless your living in a completely corrupt area, but if thats the case, i doubt your on the internet reading this.) and in return for that, you pay taxes in order to fund its continuing to care for you.

(this said, i do have a pipe dream of someday purchasing my own island, buying it from whichever government owns it, creating my own laws for my population of one (me), creating a one man army with a cool uniform, and then declaring war on some random country, just to see what happens.)
