Game Files Being Corrupt/Erased...

Ok this thread is to discuss about stories of your corrupted files and erased files.

Me.....today i let my 5 year old cousin play with my DS. no harm right. she went to play my GBA game which was FF VI. she pressed new game and there was 3 files to select to make a new file. one being my file. she was like "hey what do I Do?" i completely ignored her. so shes like fine i'll do what ever i want. next thnig you know my file got erased. damn that devilish fiend. damn her. 2 weeks of solid work for a game espiecally if its an RPG. next time i'll make sure i save it in 2 different files

Ok this is one of my friends story. he was playing some game, Forgot the name, and he was like in the last boss to beat the game. he went in and save his file on the save point. he wanted to take a rest before the file boss battle so he turned off his system and just rest him self. next hour he turns it out and went on his file. file was loading and out of no where the dreaded sign went up. "This File Is Corrupt. Please Select A Different One" he was just standing and awe while in the back groun me laughing my ass off. what he did was he set the controller down and went to the bathroom and just sat there.

heh, yeah, this happened with a bunch of my Nintendo DS games...

My five year old cousins (boy and girl) have their own DS' and asked to play some of my games. Without me knowing they suddenly erase my Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS, Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass, and New Super Mario Bros save files accidentally and I soon find out when I got them back... I would always tell them or guide them into an available save slot (exception with Mario Kart DS, my cousin(boy) found his way through the options), or tell them to go to the minigames, but suddenly, I too, got careless, and they fiddled around with the options and erased my files(they don't know about erasing yet ).... Though I eventually got through all of them again when I got the time...

Luckily for me, they got some of those games for Christmas and their birthdays!

Well, this happened to a friend of mine when FF7 was the rave back then.. He was playing at PS gaming shop. So, after battling a really tough boss (I think it was Materia Keeper) he hurriedly went to the Save Point to save.. Out of nowhere, the child of the owner suddenly pressed the power of the console while he was saving. Frantic, he checked if his save was still there.. Sure enough, it became corrupted... Just sat there in awe. He couldn't do a damn thing (even get mad) since the kid was the owner's child...

He eventually lost interest in playing FF7... He still hasnt finished FF7 up to this day. He actually borrowed my CD's to play again and used some cheats but he doesn't feel like finishing it... well, if something like that happened to me, I'd lose interest too. But i'd try to finish it in the near future..

Sounds like a common problem. i've heard stories like this before. That's why all saved data in my house is off limits to everyone else.

2 years ago i decided to play final fantasy tactics on my ps2 to get cloud on my team. i played for many hours, saved the game and turned off the power. when i came back an hour later i turned on the game and found out that everything on my ps1 memory card was erased. all my hard work on ff7, ff8, ff tactics, ffiv, chrono trigger and other games were gone. For some reason the memory card won't keep saved data after i turn it off anymore. now in order to keep saved data i have to save the game, reset the system and transfer the data to my ps2 memory card and when i want to play again, i have to turn it on, format my ps1 mem card and transfer the data from the ps2 to ps1. it's very annoying.

That happened to me in PokeMon a Lot!
I've repeated PokeMon Ruby for, like, 7 times already in one week.

This happened to me on two separate occasions: Pokemon Crystal version (GB) and DDR Extreme 2 (PS2)

For my Pokemon Crystal file corruption, I believe it happened because I forgot to clean the dust from the cartridge and that whenever I inserted it into my Gameboy Colour or Advance, I would tend to jam it in with brute force. And to add onto that, I've dropped the cartridge on several occasions, whether it was indoors or outdoors.

And for my DDR Extreme 2 file corruption, I have absolutely no idea how it happened. I just turned on my PS2 one day (The disc was already inside the console) and that file corruption message popped at the start of the game. So in the end I had to waste a good few hours/days unlocking everything once again but luckily it didn't take long since my DDR skills/abilities quickened the process. I'm also thankful that the file corruption for that game did not affect my other savefiles on my 8MB memory card.
