one of the most famous failures is pokemon that is on their like 10th season. man they just don't know when to stop.

I can actually make a list of failures

1.Pokemon
2.Naruto
3.Digimon(all 6 series)
4.Yugi-oh(all seasons)
5.Dragon Bal
6.Dragon Ball Z
7.Dragon Ball GT
8.Naruto Shippuden
9.Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
10.Pokemon Advance Battle

And lots more...just sad

I just hope that anime doesn't come to a crappy end any time in my life.

That's anime that spans something around 20 years. I'd hardly call it an example of current anime productions. It looks more like a list of anime you personally don't like.

And I wouldn't call Pokemon a "failure".... it's brought billions of dollars of revenue into Japan as well as helping to popularize anime outisde of Japan. (it has netted nintendo something like 15 billion dollars).

i think they people who try to make theese shows need to give the kid shows a rest...and start working on the mature shows section. im tired of people making stuff that little people can enjoy, while the mature people just tease it. it pisses me off thinking about it

it doesn't really work that way.

there will always be a large profitable market for children's anime so they're never going to stop making it. anime for "mature" audiences is being made constantly, i'm not sure why you think there is a lack of it. it may not be shown prime time on television, but there is plenty of it out there.

give an example of children's anime that you feel is everywhere, and then an example of "mature" anime that is lacking. i don't really know where you're coming from, but i suspect your just unaware of all thats out there.

I too think i might be hard pressed to name maybe 20 VERY good anime series since 2000 but i certainly could name 5 with ease..
I mean if anything Since 2000 more great quality movies were put out than anime.

The 90's for me was epic anime wise

Berserk
Serial Experiment Lain
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
You're Under Arrest
Slayers (and Next)
HunterXhunter
Irresponsible Captain Tylor
So forth and so on....

anyone agree?

all those you said were missing from existence are over hyped as hell. monster is rapidly becoming the new deathnote. i really wouldn't be surprised if it's on cartoon network within the next 2 years. i just talked to someone the other day in my anime club who was a big fan of deathnote and bleach, and he asked me if i watched monster (he said it was his new favorite series). beleive it or not, he had never even heard of haruhi or lucky star. NOW whats over hyped?

there is plenty of other more mature stuff out there like what you mentioned, i have no clue why you think there is a shortage of it. however, it's just not going to ever get the same spotlight that more mainstream series like naruto and bleach receive. personally, i'd just as soon all my favorite anime didn't get too popular. just popular enough to get a nice DVD release and provide a good selection of merchandise i can buy online.

Despite this that i watch Naruto and stuff,my friends are becoming Narutards(well, few of them). They even do Hand signs now, basic ones actually.Im getting annoyed by this.Lol,its funny to see Naruto series getting highly influencial. Not only that, they talk about Pokemon too.I dont mind about the others like productions of dolls/action figures of Pokemon but the Anime is highly overrated. Those 2 Anime is always near me,not the Anime but the infulence of them.Popularity overrated and influencial. And they only know those Anime, not even Bleach,Death Note,Trigun, etc.

As said by ED,Death Note is one of the best Anime in my view. Some of my friends watch it and also says its good but some toehrs decide to ignore it(sad and somewhat surpising). There are many others.Trust me,dont watch too many famous Anime episodes because they influenced you, watch good Animes you like.In particular,i liked Death note more than Bleach and Naruto combined at least.

Pucca isn't even anime.

And I'm guessing the times have changed so now anime have gone to spastic hell.

But a few that I did enjoy this year:

Deathnote...until after L died then I got bored but finished the series nonetheless,
Claymore until episode 20~
Haruhi. Yes I actually liked it and I watched this before it was majorly overhyped.
Rozen Maiden although the ending of the second season turned me down.
Mushi-shi Is also good.

And others I've randomly enjoyed: Shuffle, Mai Hime/Otome, and FMA.

yah, tats kinda true, mushroomjay. back then, animes then were all action wit LITTLE spoilers. and, they looked old-fashioned. anime now has WAy more delays 4 the new eps and MORE fillers. and TOO focused on the kids.

Are you trying to say Death Note isn't overrated and not popular enough?

Sure the times are changing.. But it doesn't mean that every show coming in the NOW generation is gonna be disappointing and kiddy like.. but animes like DN,SHnY,Lucky Star and others aren't aimed just at the younger audiences but are supposedly for EVERYONE of EVERY AGE to watch..Maybe some of these are abit childish but can still be watched since the anime industry is now aiming to get audiences of all ages to watch anime from what i'v seen ..

Okay maybe there aren't as many kickass animes like the old times when spoilers practically didn't exist and the stories were just awesome but animes like that still havent stopped being produced, thier just very hard to find.

Well, recently I've taken a notice to crappier anime becoming more popular. Not just recently either. I'm talking since.. What, 2000 anime has been in a steady decline. Mostly because of re-hash after re-hash. But anyway. Look at it like this.

But anyway, more specifically I'm talking about the spotlight of failure of this decade. You know, Naruto, Bleach, Haruhi, etc. Their mediocrity will continue to shine onto decades past, which is sad. anyway, discuss the downfall of anime, and bask in the shit storm that is anime of 2007.

i have to agree, but there have been a few good shows that have come and gone in 2007 such as claymore and kaze no stigma and others along the lines, but the best of all i think is how the art styles have been developed because the more clean/smoother art makes the whole appearance of a show different, in some aspects.

You know what this utterly amazes me because Monster (anime) predates Death Note by 3 years.

I really don't see how you can place Haruhi in the same breathe as Bleach or Naruto.
Haruhi had a very original plot excellently put together storyline, decent character development (and likable characters @ that) , Tons of quirky and random references to other anime video games and books (ones you have to have a very sharp eye for to notice).
Not to mention Every character had their moment in the show they just didnt create them to let them be static for the whole series every single one of them played a semi-pivotal role in the show.

I mean granted the idea of showing episodes out of order has been done before. Haurhi still did it with a way that even if you didn't quite understand it (or liked it). It kept you compelled enough to keep watching.

Does it garner way more attention that it probably deserves.... yea i would venture to say that. But it doesn't mean it was a horrible show because of all the said reasons above.
