I wouldnt say the quality has neccessarily dropped in anime titles since 2000, you just have to search for them through the fog of the main titles. With so many different audiences to appeal to theres bound to be a variety of different shows applying to your tastes, that are very well created pieces of art, coming out in recent years as well as older ones. Higurashi and Kanon 06 are awesome series even if they are somewhat hyped now, but there are others that havent recieved a great deal of attention that are really enjoyable if you take your time to search for them ([email protected] Xenoglossia, Kamichu!, Sola, Strawberry Panic and Lamune, are good examples in my opinion).

Bsically, even though anime isnt very original now, with overused plots and stereotypes etc other the older anime, none of it neccessarily bad to someone out there, as long as it appeals to someone, they will keep making them.

i agree with kyo, the 90's was prolly like the golden age where ud see outstanding style for its time (i dunt agree with his list though)

i think the downfall for all the 2000 animes are all those sim-games turn animes and the mass failure of american dubbing, not the mainstream naruto/bleach

mainstream isnt that bad, yea ull see some dumb fans, but theyll learn eventually, jay when u first watched anime, im sure u didnt become an instant expert

mainstream anime COULDA been good for the west, but american dubbing has no emotion. no enthusiasm from the actors, basically no acting, only the disney dubbed and a handful of animes have good voice actors

2000 animes arent that bad, i think theres so many good comedy animes from 2000 on

that's pretty much it in a nutshell. it's not so much that anime sucks right now, is that there is just so much more of it, and what seemed fresh and new 10-15 years ago is losing it's luster for some of the well traveled fans out there. most of what we liked 10-15 years ago is still around, it's just not quite so easy to find anymore in one form or another.

Anime has been a little on decline; Naruto ANIME almost made me stop reading the manga, so I came to this conclusion, stop watching anime and read more manga.

i agree lights only shine on anime like one piece naruto and bleach leaving alot of good ones because all of the fast pace action in todays A.D.D society you wont see cartoon network playing romance anytime soon

im sure japanese anime fans still watch old animes etc,, its the american audience thats the problem, since they dunt even get a chance to know about all the other good old animes, american dubbing fails, anime advertising in america is practically 0, but i think the manga scene is spreading so theyll learn eventually though

and when they see that a good classic anime theyd be like o__o wow

to me there are4 animes that fucked the cycle of good animes the ones that go on forever naruto bleach one piece and pokemon they take the spotlight and leave out the good mangas
p.s. they also make subbing sites concentrate on them

You shouldn't let a retarded fanbase ruin your enjoyment of anime.
There are a lot of great titles out for 2000s, just because you think they are horrible doesn't make it a fact that it is.

I'd say probably so far the best anime for me in the 2000s would be Code Geass or Higurashi no Noku Koro ni

And yet you list both Naruto and Bleach on your favorites......

What I see killing anime these days are the stereotypes.
The silent bishounen who everybody say is cooler than the main guy.
The main guy who tries to be better than everybody.
The shy girls.
The evil guy with no apparent reason for being evil.
Every guy who just use their bodies("I got to get stronger!") and their emotions(I get stronger because of my friends!"). These themes are shit!

Everyone likes them so everyone copies them.

I try to prove this to my friends everyday.
I mean, a lot of these anime have the same formula for every episode.
Take inuyasha for example,
they'll walk around with kagome's bike, sango gets molested by Miroku
Then they stumble across some dead or injured person saying that some strangely powerful demon attacked and destroyed their village/family
They rush off to see the desolate place
Demon has jewel shard
Nasty fight with the demon in which Inuyasha gets his ass handed to him
Kagome gets involved and encourages Inuyasha, he gets pumped up
Then he'll use one of his standard cliche moves, kill the demon, get the jewel shard
Then some completely random connection to Naraku is made

Tell me I didn't sum up at least 80% of inuyasha episodes lol
