I personally thought the death note series wasnt that good at all.The animes arent good in my opinion its the mangas that are great.Animes that copy straight from mangas are alot better than animes that just make episodes or an entire series out of thin air.Just because its more recent an still well known ill say Claymore, the anime was okay until 20 where it seriously sucked and alot of people hated it. but the manga is great.Animes just try to ride on a name or franchise now in the same way that movies make good trailers but then you find out that the movie itself sucks ass.Animes nowadays really suck cuz theyre just in it for money not for a great show.

If they do suck so much, why are you still watching them?

Yeah Negima was dissapointing.

I'm still an anime noob in a way, so I can't really tell if the quality of plots/storylines has declined since 2000. Anyway I could easily name 5 anime of this generation which I think the makers shouldn't be ashamed of in terms of storytelling. Monster, Kino no Tabi, Paranoia Agent, Mushishi and most recent and so far Mononoke. I'm hoping for Shigurui to become another great one.

Apart from that FMA and Nodame Cantabile weren't bad. I guess I could think of some more.

But yeah, it's hard to get close to Cowboy Bebop and Berserk in terms of uniqueness and classiness. These will never get old ;-) Maybe it's because anime has become more popular and well-known all over the world, that the anime industry sticks to mediocre plot recipes which proved to work well amongst the masses. That's actually what happens to anything once it has become popular. I recently noticed more people here in Germany who watch anime, they all seem to know only Bleach, Naruto and Death Note. They all seem retarded as well =/ Retarded audience gets retarded anime.

True, but then again I just watch anime because it's entertaining. If you don't like a series go and look for another series. Recently I've even begun to find joy in watching a series only to find out I don't like it and just leave it never to look back. I do have to say that I've seen many of those stereo typed anime series but why wouldn't I. I mean of course the fillers are crap but still you want to follow the story line. With Naruto for instance I can't watch that thinking they are just kids because that would be impossible instead I just disregard their person and watch the story line.
Of course it's impossible to completely rationalize their actions if you picture them as being grown up. But now a days you can't watch a series for it's unique story line because there are not many unique story lines left. Instead I say you ought to focus more on the details of the story line. For instance the how of the story line I mean how many story lines have had as the main theme "Saving the world" probably more than 100 and how many have had the theme of "Becoming stronger to save my friends" probably even more than the previous number.
I say in a few years time we'll have forgotten about the stereo typed anime series and we regard every anime series as new. (Atleast I hope so)
Then now I'm off dreaming of new unique series, even though I always loose them when I wake up.
(Ps. if you know a series which is a must see as to unique and not stereo typed please send it to me in a pm because lately I have not found any.)

Hey I really liked Ueki no Housoku tho it showed a lot of the normal factors, the friends and the world thing.. but I got so into the show that I can't stop it, and let me say this, it is fun to watch some of the new-gen anime due to it's content. Look, the hero was really weak but he used logic just to show potential. then comes the other powers that really made it weird. LOL

Btw, I also liked FMA so much. It's not your typical anime. Also DeathNote until L died.

I guess that's it. Oh, I also liked GunXSword, as it really looks like Cowboy Bebop remade.

To Kyocool:No,im not saying that Death note is not popular enough,or overrated in that matter.I thinks its rated properly. Also,im saying its a recommended Anime to watch, also a good anime in my view.

What the problem im talking about now is the influence of all the popular animes(Bleach,Naruto,etc.).Seeing that not only i can hear conversations about them,im saying theres even actions of it that reached me(People performing hand signs). Why would i want Death note to be popular? To reach Anime fans to watch it?Possibly but that not a right way.

The fact all those animes that reach high status popularity has one thing in common.ACTION.As you can see, theres fighting and therefore, lots of people liked it.That which i hate.If the producers improved something like the storyline for an example and reduce fillers, then it wouldnt be overrated at least,or downgraded in the ratings(Cant say the right words).

blah blah. The anime you like isn't popular, and the kind you hate is being obsessed by the weirdos. can't judge what's the best anime (old timers are just naming all the old stuff, and the younger gen get a kick out of that naruto). I'm pretty much not interested in most of the anime nowadys. So hard to find something worthy of wasting my life on. Since Death Note, Claymore, and Oofuri's end, I'm just going to have to watch Ergo Proxy dubs. That new Gundam 00 reminds me of Gundam Seed + Code Geass = crap.

I have noticed the downfall for a while now, good underrated animes being overshadowed by popular animes such as Naruto, Bleach. -etc though I like Bleach, it doesn't hold a candle to the classics from the 90s, 80s, and even 70s, my point is if this continues, anime would end up like disco, DEAD!
