it all depends on the storyline, originality, and marketing. If your animation/manga have all three, then you'll be making a lot of money.

Well if your looking to be a manga artist, then id suggest looking into this competition that I found out about a while ago. Its called the "Rising stars of Manga". Here's a link for it

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rising_stars_of_manga

Anyway, I think what it said on wikipedia was that the eighth one ended on January 11th of this year. So far I havent seen anything on number nine. If they have another and your confident enough in your skills you should enter and see if you have a shot, I plan on giving this a shot myself if another competition pops up.

you won't make enough money to live very well in japan. and america... don't do it. i hear stories of very bitter ex-disney animators and no one would be proud of working on anything animated in america these days. i don't think manga will make you $ in da usa. living in japan is more expensive. try crime, or marrying a rich old person.

depends on ur drawing skills and storytelling abilities ... and u can't guage urself. you gotta show it to strangers and have them judge.

depends on how good they are, personally it would be a pain in the ass to keep up with all the deadlines >.>

it "Depends" as always. Popularity of your work against the popularity of a large number of people as well. If you count the number of people that wants to be a manga artist and compare them with yourself. IF your manga/animation are any better than all the rest, then im sure it would pay you enough to live off of. But if your just average at being an animator or manga artist... you better be a hard worker or have a great storyline for your manga to survive.

Worst case scenario, you fail being a manga artist/animator. You run out of money, stay over a relative's house till you get a different job OR you dont have relatives nearby and you have to live on the streets till you find a job that can support your lifestyle...THEN perhaps draw mangas/ animate when you have free time. its not like its gonna kill you =D

I'll admid this: I really wanted to become a manga artist but since I live in America, I don't think there's an opportunity to become one since I hardly see any american manga artist. Second of all, since my dad is in this terrible sickness stage that cost a lot of hospital money... I don't think being a manga artist can make a lot of money for his hospital fees... Furthermore, does being a manga artist/animator get enough money to even feed yourself?

If you want the answer to this question go to Onemanga.com
Look up a manga called Bakuman. It totally answer this question like tat manga was made for this purpose
