I truly enjoy this show. Aside from the cheesy storyline and the crappy special effects, it's really good. I feel like i'm watching the first Star Trek serie all over again. Of course, I kinda hate the Daleks, they look like pieces of scrap metals that have hit a wall and then fell into a dump and they speak like robocop for some unknow reason. Well whatever, this show still owns for some unknow reason^^

I've only seen a few of the new episodes - not real impressed. I love the old episodes much more - Robert Baker was the best Dr Who ever!!!

"Robert Baker"? I'm sorry, which Doctor is he supposed to be? I know of a "Tom Baker" (4th Doctor) and a "Colin Baker" (6th Doctor) but haven't really heard of a incarnation of the Doctor played by a "Robert Baker". Is he like Richard E Grant's version of the Ninth Doctor (AKA The Shalka Doctor)?

Somehow I'm thinking you've got either Tom or Colin Baker and Robert Holmes (Writer and Script Editor) mixed up.

Now that that's over with (for now) on to other topics.

Yeah! Great to hear that there (might) be other individuals on CR who are both Otaku and Whovians!

Also, I was thinking of maybe putting up a poll thread in this area of the forum about "Which was your first Doctor?" (and by that I mean "The incarnation of The Doctor that starred in the first episode of Doctor Who you've ever seen") And, FYI, the first episode of Doctor Who I've ever seen was "The Impossible Planet", so The Tenth Doctor was my first.

And while, yes, I did start with the revived series. I still like the classic series just as much. While on that subject, I wonder if anyone else here has seen "The Aztecs", "The Dalek Invasion of Earth", or "Tombs of the Cybermen". But dang, I wish I could truly see "The Tenth Planet". Not only was that the first story to feature the Cybermen, but it also has the first regeneration scene...ever! (From the First Doctor to the Second)

Dang, if I talked in RL anywhere nearly as fast or as much as I typed, I'd be like The Tenth Doctor myself.

Speaking of the Emoticon used just there (coded with the word "blink" between colon symbols)..."Don't blink!"

OK, one more thing. I'm sure we otaku have seen various anime series dubbed into English. Well...I've seen some videos on YouTube that show just about the opposite; instead of a Japanese-language show dubbed into English, we have an example of an English-language show dubbed into Japanese. Here's the URLs...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47SCZR3h2yQ&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upLkHR5u7N4

About the last video at around 1:14...I'm sorry but that joke there made more sense in English. ("Dokutaa dare?" = "Doctor Who?") Mostly considering that the shows title is spelled like this...
ドクター・フー (romanised as Dokutaa Fuu)
Somewhat related, I'm wondering just how technobabble translates into Japanese? (It's just a random question)

Random Trivia!

By now, this post has surely become TR;DR. So I've got to end it now. Ja nee! Allons-y!

Yeah, you're right, my bad, it was TOM Baker. I don't know why I always want to call him Robert....probably cuz I suck at remembering names...one of the many not-so-great things about getting older. Yes, TOM Baker was awesome and will always be my favorite Dr Who!!!

Doctor who
The major dynamic of [url=http://www.mycollects.com/products/Doctor-Who-Season-1-4-DVD-Boxset-DVDS-1380.html]Doctor Who seasons 1-4 dvd boxset has always been one of change, after all it IS a show about a 900+ year-old face-swapping, regenerating Timelord with no-fixed-abode, each week an entirely new location, with a new cast of characters. It's because of this dynamic that the series has had such (multimedia) longevity. With [url=http://www.mycollects.com/products/Doctor-Who-Season-1-4-DVD-Boxset-DVDS-1380.html]doctor who dvds series 4, of the new series we see a continuation of this, with the return of Donna Noble from the Christmas Invasion Special of 2006. But, this isn't the same Donna, she herself has changed as a character for having adventured with the [url=http://www.mycollects.com]Doctor who, although she still, thankfully, is not as in awe of the Doctor as Rose in series 1, or in love as Rose in [url=http://www.mycollects.com/products/Doctor-Who-Season-1-4-DVD-Boxset-DVDS-1380.html]doctor on dvds series 2, or struck love-sick with the unobtainable man as Martha in [url=http://www.mycollects.com/products/Doctor-Who-Season-1-4-DVD-Boxset-DVDS-1380.html]doctor who complete series 3. Donna has a unique perspective on the Doctor and his universe, almost seeing herself as an equal, if unsure of her abilities, but not so completely trusting of the Doctor. As Rose grew into the role of companion, so does Donna, but her journey isn't as simple, she may be the everyman companion (like Sally Sparrow or the men of LINDA). But now with David Tennant's 10th Doctor the audience knows more about the "last of the Timelords" than any companion, we don't need the companion as an anchor, thus we has Donna on an even playing field, and an excuse to bring back Martha (also changed for her travels)...an maybe Rose? During the course of this adventure he encounters a brand new race of ferocious alien monsters, and strikes up a friendship with his latest companion, Alison. I eagerly awaited the new Dr Who, and I wasn't disappointed. My first memories of the Doctor are Jn Pertwee battling robots, giant maggots and giant spiders in the early seventies. Then Tom Baker took over and it was a must watch programme. Tonight I was transported back to those days, in so much as I felt just as I did back then. With one big difference, this is very much a programme for the twenty first century.
