I guess from what I've seen, they are quite the aquired taste. Well, I aquired the taste for their amazing speed metal and occasional power ballads a while ago. Some of their songs make me want thrash my head, while other make me want to hold up my lighter and sway back and forth. I really want to see them live, just to see if they are as amazing as they sound on disc (probably not). My favorite songs are probably "Blackfire", "Starfire", "Black Winter Night", and "Above Winter Moonlight". I know the titles sound alike, and so do some of their songs, but thats okay when it all sounds great.

Sadly, they sound pretty awful live...so awful that it kind of makes me believe the rumors about them speeding up their guitars and using a drum machine on their studio work. It's pretty catchy on the albums though, i'll give it that.

I wouldn't doubt that they speed it up. Seriously, who can play that fast, that long, that hard? Its unimaginable that anyone, human or not, could do it for hours at a concert. Either way, I love their albums. I've got all three so far. I think the best is Valley of the Damned, followed by Sonic Firestorm, then Inhuman Rampage. All are good, don't get me wrong.

I only have Inhuman Rampage, but I like listening to them when I'm pumped up or something. I can't stand their ballad-y songs. My guitar teacher tried to teach me Through The Fire And The Flames because he's a big fan, but holy crap, I can't do it. The guitarists can just go so fast. I like Sam Totman's solos more than that other guy's.
