I skipped two grades of high school, graduated early and am a sophomore in college now... I'm double majoring with one minor... my grades depend on the classes I'm taking... I won't say i'm gifted... oh and yeah, I'm a tutor for maths, writing, and Chinese.

If i am happy and motivated i can hardly pay attentation and ace my A.P classes easy. However if i'm depressed i have trouble even in regular classes if i study.
I learned a very difficult piano piece in 2 days once. But when i feel crapy it will take over 2 weeks to learn a much easier piece. Kinda weird, don't know why.

honor student ever since I started school
The only reason I never got the highest marks was because I'm too lazy...
I never did homework, I always passed crappy projects and always slept in class
The only reason my grades range from 90-99 (they dont give 100 in the report card >_>)
because of my exams and extracurricular stuff (contests and workshops... stuff like that)
but I'm not a genius... fast learner yes but not a genius... I dont get the highest grades...

I'm an honors student. Never had anything but A's and very little B's. I was supposed to skip three grades. Offered a full scholarship to the best private school in my area. And I'm in the highest program at one of the top schools in the country. xP

well i can say that i don't have a lack of common sense. my classmates would study to death and i'm not like that. but in the end, i'll find out i have higher scores than them.lol i only study when i feel like doing so, and usually those will be the times i will get perfect scores. but sometimes i also get high scores without reviewing my lessons cause it's plain comprehension while the teacher is discussing. and also, problem with students is that, they just read and read, they dont understand.
i have a photographic memory too, and once i've read or known something already, it will take time for me to forget it. :D
i used to get alot of awards during my younger years, academically especially in language arts(english). music too.

academically gifted?
before, i guess i was.. lol.. because apparently, i was actually doing something that time.
i always was the second of our class.
my language skills ain't that bad either since a lot of my friends adores my fanfics.
i get great scores at quizzes(surprise or announced) and other tests without reviewing.. listening to the teacher or even attending my class
><
i'm lazy..
its what sets me back from my potential

intellectually gifted yet academically crippled... apparently society judges for what you did and do but not for what you're capable doing...

I can pretty much replace some of my professors and i'll be doing the school a favor...

okay, eeeverybody backwashed me on my comment that i thot solving a rubik's cube was possibly an 'academic gift' and worthy of posting in this thread. maybe you're even right. how about that?

sooo anywayz, i gave it some thot, and now i have an 'academic gift' to contribute to this thread.

my 'academic gift' is the ability and resolve to hold a contradictory POV in the face of overwhelming public opinion to the contrary. fair nuf?

in fact, i will add a quote of a recognized ace in solving the cube,
plz go here;
http://arizonamoms.com/justformoms/27-years-after-hitting-the-market-rubik-s-cube-finds-a-new-generation-of-hard-core-fans

quote from the bottom of the web page;
"It's a completely separate skill from anything academic," Mao says. "It doesn't matter if they're a writer or a poet, anyone can do this."

okay, so we have the word from a highly esteemed rubik's cuber himself, solving rubik's cubes is separate from anything academic.

great. that's exactly what i want here, to suggest that holding an opinion contrary to the recognized experts and majority of the public, refusing to jump off the cliff into the sea with the rest of the lemmings--if you will, may in itself be an 'academic gift'.

anyone willing to agree with that holding an opposite opinion to popular belief might be an 'academic gift'? is not one of the most cherished rights and liberties of academia, the right to disagree with everyone, even in the face of supposed overwhelming evidence to the contrary? anyone got any famous quotes to back me up in anyone's right to march to the beat of a different drum?

You're absolutly right, the whole point of academia is to prove everyone else wrong. The person who proves the most people wrong at once wins!
