Hasn't even been decided in the manga yet... Maybe it'll have a OHSHC ending? And that picture, Lala used one of her devices on him and he and the dog switched bodies, hence why he's doing that. Or something along the lines of that.
The point of her staying is that there'll be an actual 'plot'. Without Lala, he'd have confessed to Haruna, and 'judging' from the first ep, Haruna likes Rito, and they would have gone out. The end. Lala's a bit... Thick to realise that he likes someone else, until later on. But she still strives for his love.

Is the manga ending soon? I hope not. Please I beg of the creators to not end it yet.
As for what I think I think yeah maybe he most likely will be with Lala. Either that or NO ONE!!!! He'll be in one of those lame endings where either they don't show what happens after or they all become friends. GEESH If that happens I'll be spamming them with hate mail and threats until they remake the ending.

he'll end up with that stupid mary sue AKA: haruna. thats the way it goes. he liked her at the beginning of the story and he'll like her at the end. its sadly cliche but thats the way it always goes...plus lala can have any guy she wants in a second. she's always walking around naked, rito is mentally imbalanced or seriosly lacking libido for not banging her already.
