i think it depends on the situation. I have never been in a situation like that, so i have no idea what i would do. i guess coming from a religious background i would consider it wrong, but it all depends.

to throw away life is just wrong, but i know that if i were 90% unable to do anything or brain dead for a very long period of time or a finacl burdn to my family then yes i would want to die. i would hate to give up even the smallest glimmer of hope on life.

interesting..lol i wouldn't expect that answer judging by you're avatar...anyways, i believe if someone wants to die, let them die. the earth is overpopulated by these disrespecting, nasty, creatures call humans anyways. this is one of the upsides to war too, its a population control in mass amounts, besides its a sure way to commit suicide if you want to, all you have to do is try to be a hero

if i was in a vegetative state, with no chance of getting better, yeah i would want my loved one to pull the plug.

That's the thing, there is always a chance. Doctors can't account for miracles(placebo effect is a good try though).

And if they kill yo a year before a treatment is developed, you're quite boned. LOL

cajunx....*shakes head*

i think its all about consent. choice. if the person who turned veggie has it written in his/her will that they'd rather be dead, than die a slow death, (not to mention maybe donate the living organs?)i say go for it. but if its just, say, like an evil relative wanting to get insurance money (america seems to be full of these kind of people) from the person, well that's another thing entirely.

i'm just saying it should be studied case by case, coz we dont want euthenasia-happy people popping out of the wood-work on us, eh? u never know, that might be me someday.

I dont agree with it but if the patient who is suffering doesnt want to go through a slow death and the family&friends alrdy tried to convince them not to or has given them approval i think they can do as they choose

Do you guys think "Euthanasia" should be legal?

if the person involved isn't a relative and is/was suffering too much; i'd choose to Euthanasia. However, I will not let Euthanasia be done if it's a relative.

Kinda Hypocritcal isnt it? Just cuz you don't know them doesn't mean they are nobody's, its someone elses relative.
Wouldn't you feel more compassion for a relative in pain? And want their suffering to end?

^ i agree- that comment doesn't make much sense.
I'm not sure what i think- i can understand why people would want to commit euthanasia but i think there are issues such as their friends and relatives to consider. I can't give an overall opinion as i would have to hear each case of euthanasia independently and decide.

i see no compassion in killing or mercy killing. I thought mercy killing is only applied to animals. What right do humans have in taking other people's lives?

I think people believe its ok because otherwise the person may be suffering. Also that brings up the question of why is it ok to mercy kill animals but not humans?

Lets take a moment to explore what legal euthanasia might look like.

Would people have Death Day Parties, like Harold and Maude? A pre-funeral, like a wake before it even happens? Would a goverment executioner come in and do the honors? Would that be the dream job of a serial killer?

I know the famed journalist Hunter S. Thompson had his ashes fired out of a cannon; could you specialize how you wanted to go? (like in Monty Python's Meaning of Life) Could people seek out others who are interested in dying and use them in movies or send them on dangerous missions?

Yes, I do

If someone was in a vegetative state and the family or relative wanted to see them die peacefully with full of intention of whats best for the person I see no reason why it should be illegal.

But, there are many who disagree with me on this so, what I think is people should make a will or some kind of legal Document stating if they would choose Euthanasia or not.

I personally would choose Euthanasia if I was gone mentally and physically. I don't think it would much fun having someone doing my everything aswell.

I've been asking the same question aswell.

Why should people mercy kill animals but humans should live in pain ?

I personally find it very unfair but in other words bullshit.

I think if you are for euthanasia then you must be prepared to kill your loved ones as well, otherwise you should be against it or you are a hypocrite, i myself have two takes on this, i think that even in the most painful, degrading, shameful torture you have to undergo, you should never give up, but at the same time i realize that without me myself having lived through that i have no way of knowing what i would do in said situation and i acknowledge that not all people can do it, so i would say that it would have to have INCREDIBLY strict rules to it but i would vote for it.

in response to gopher- euthanasia is legal in some countries (i've forgotten which sorry!) and there they lay on a bed and recieve a lethal injection from a doctor. This highlights the issue of 'aren't doctors supposed to save life?'
