In elementary school, a lot of people thought I was Chinese. Then once I hit middle and high school, I got asked if I was Korean, Thai, or Cambodian, but never Filipino. Heh. It was just weird.

My ethnic is Chinese, although when i was in Paris & Amsterdam people keep thinking i'm japanese. Second guess was Korean.
Although ethnicity paints a picture of one's cultural background, sometimes i find it really discriminating. Especially when i'm filling in forms, i had a good mind to leave that section blank but was afraid they'd not process the form. Does it matters if i'm malay, chinese, indian or others? Dammit I'm Malaysian.

Yes I got mistaken every time by chinese. Young and old. They just assume I'm chinese & start speaking mandarin with me. I'm like "huh?". |

Yes. People always think that I'm Japanese or part Caucasian. I actually had a friend that thought I was Caucasian for two years. I used to get really annoyed by it, but, by now, I'm used to it.

Black people can be mistaken too. Even though I'm mixed with Native blood (which is still considered black) everybody thinks I'm Some type of Black/Spanish with a little bit of Asian (yes...somebody told me I was that combination). I still get asked "What are you mixed with?" |

A lot of people think me and my dad look Spanish or Mexican. Im Filipino, but we have fair skin....probably because of Spanish and French decent that is only present with both of us in my nuclear family.My brother says I look 'white'... nyhaha...I'm Filipino!

I'm Korean, but people think I'm Chinese. My last name is Chang (unusual for a Korean last name) and I have only Chinese friends.
Asian people are usually good at telling the difference between Taiwanese, Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and other oriental races. I guess I'm the only exception T~T

I'm not really good at telling the difference between Taiwanese and Chinese unless they speak Chinese.
