Since Ep 7 of LF has been uploaded successfully in CR, assuming you're all consistent followers of LF and Takeru's agony, it is implied that his genophobia (fear of sexual intercourse) is caused by his elder sister. Image Considering that he has rejected Eri's advances in previous Ep 5, he is still very attracted to Ruka in a strictly asexual way. Isn't it something interesting to ponder upon? Image
How does Takeru actually feels about Ruka despite his sexual impediment? Is this PG-13? Image

I always thought Takeru's agony was that he loved someone who would never love him back. His sexual agony hasn't played a huge part yet, it was just him getting squeamish over some film, and then I guess when Eri went after him when she was drunk (although I think he was more surprised than traumatized, but I don't really know how genophobia works).

Anyway, there are a few explanations. If he sees Ruka as asexual, it could be that he isn't afraid that she would be rushing to have sex if they were dating. Second, no matter how he sees her he probably thinks that she's enough like him that she'll understand his problem, unlike every other woman ('what, a guy who doesn't like sex, he must be gay!' hence Eri and his co-worker thinking he's gay).

I don't think you can presuppose that after a certain age, all attraction to the opposite (or same for that matter) sex is sexual. You can have physical attraction that isn't necessarily manifested in your mind as 'man, I want to have sex with them!' whether you are a man or woman. In other words, Takeru isn't thinking 'I need to land a chick so I can get laid, ooh how about that Ruka', he needs someone who he can trust first.

Third, it could be that he just never met anyone he was really attracted to until he saw Ruka. I mean, the guy works as a makeup artist for models all day, he's probably been jaded by being surrounded by conventional beauty for so long and was happy to get a breath of fresh air.

Going along the lines of Takeru being traumatised (I believe this is more likely), I agree that he sees her as a unique gal who doesn't throw herself at guys (of cos) or treat him as a potential mate thus very "harmless" indeed. In fact, he seems to "enjoy" being told off by Ruka. Image Like you mentioned, it's love at first sight. In the 1st EP, he overheard Ruka's conversation with Eri about her ideal relationship which happened to fit for him. Later on, as he witnessed Ruka's love for Michiru, he got entirely smitten with her capability to love someone as a person.

It's good that you mentioned all the above as the "love" between Ruka and Michiru has kind of overshadowed the love between Ruka and Takeru, which is even more fascinating and enlightening after watching EP 8! I'm rather pleased and surprised at how this drama turns out so far... Image

EP 9 seems to be a watershed, with the characters becoming defined in black and white (aka time to wrap up the series): Takeru representing the angel and Sousuke the devil. The rest being the earthlings that got elevated or trampled by them respectively.

I was so egged on Sousuke and Ruka fighting but it becomes really 1 sided soon after, my heart bleeds for Ruka and that's certainly not the fan service I have in mind. What a terrible and disturbing end to EP 9. Right now, I expect (want) Sousuke to die in any way the writers can think of, since they have started to make him be the baddie thoroughly to end off the series.

Nice picture of Sousuke btw.

Takeru is at every milestone of Ruka's emotional journey in EP 10! Image Aw... he's almost perfect. As expected, we see the inevitable happening as Sousuke realised he's 'worthless' in the eyes of Michiru and his 'superior' position (in his warped view, anyway)has been superceded by Ruka and Takeru. Ooh, Eri showed her mettle finally! Image

Is it just me or has Takeru never come out about being abused? He sort of shelved that to let other people take the spotlight. This show isn't one to pull surprises that don't make any sense, so I don't think his sister is going to burst out of nowhere and take his life (banana bread was poison?! poison used to drug and rape him?!).
There's also a lot of not so subtle symbolism with that trashcan: the magazine, the letters, the banana bread. Way to go for this drama for using a lot of great cinema techniques and consistently being interesting (although I don't think they needed so many cliffhangers, it didn't hurt the ratings).

Would be spoiler in Japanese for EP 11 especially concerning Takeru:-

What fate/destiny? The characters' lives are at the mercy of the scriptwriter. Nothing to do with poisoned banana bread though. The pace of this drama is affected by the characters' 'heavy' background, thus they cramped up Takeru's trouble into the final episode and let some characters have the kiss of 'fate'.
