DUI's have different rules state by state. And probably country by country. Some even include being under the influence of substances other then alcohol.

DUI [Driving Under the Influence]

for me i think it's BS.

er..what? I'm confused as to what you mean by it's bullshit.

Storytime~ The year I started college one of the guys in my grade was arrested for drunk driving. This happened toward the end of summer - right when he was supposed to fly out to California for school. :/ That must have sucked for him. I'm not sure if he went to jail or was able to make it to California.

Heard this in the radio:
- On the weekdays, most car accidents happen during rush hour of 5 - 7pm. That's the time people comes off from work.
- On the weekmornings, most car accidents happen around 2 - 4 am. Those are the times people are drunk and just came off from bars.

-- In lamest terms, be cautious while driving on those times.

For enforcing laws, Fuck yeah.

Wait what?

I suspect you've never really had to deal with cops before. Let's just say it brings a new meaning to the term "guilty until proven innocent"

I've been arrested twice, I have a handfull of tickets, and I've had to take a sobriety test.

I have absouletly nothing on my record since everything was dropped, except the one ticket i got under 18 (a little community service and it was off my record).

I've sat in the back of police cars, handcuffed, while they make fun of me up front. I've passed sobriety tests with flying colors only to hear cops come up with excuses as to why he could still arrest me, even though I wasn't doing anything wrong. I've even had a cop make up some wild ass story and then call his superior (he was brand new so he didn't have the balls) to actually pull me over.

Cops are fucking douchebags.

I'm confused by the OP.

Is she saying that it is BS that you can get in trouble for driving while intoxicated? If so, thats just silly.

Here is the issue with "dui" -- it's not exactly black and white.

in the US, you have to have a 0.08 BAC in order to qualify as "drunk driving." That's really not even drunk, thats a couple of drinks with dinner.

Also, drunk driving isn't near as prolific as people think. The statistics have been doctored quite a bit. Many statistics use the tern "alcohol related incident" instead of DUI, but they're used to legitimize the current legal limit (and people are pushing for a 0.06 limit as well). These aren't the same thing.

Technically, anything involving alcohol could considered an alocohol related incident. Anything from a genuine drunk driver, a drunk passenger, or even a bottle of wine in the groceries can be classified as an "alcohol related incident."

Meanwhile, when a cop is obsessing over whether you have a 0.079 or a 0.081 BAC, there are genuine repeat offending drunk drivers on the road.

I'm not saying drunk driving is ok, I'm just saying that our priorities are misplaced. Instead of enforcing an absurdly low limit, lets instead focus on keeping genuinely dangerous drunk drivers off the road, particularly repeat offenders.

by saying bullshit.
it's cuz when my sister drives the car and she's drunk. she drove much safer than she usually do in everyday routine. cuz we almost got into a car accident when she WASN'T DRUNK! cuz she wasn't paying attention on the freeway. [she oversped up to 90 mph]

It's so dangerous, I don't care if your drunk and you hurt yourself, if you drink and drive, then you could also hurt someone else. People shouldn't die because someone was careless.

"i bet she did i bet she was paranoid as hell. i have done it in the past and will not do it again because i gennarly dont care abut "the rules of the road" when i have been drinking"

hey i've told this to all my friends and they said the same thing. that she must've been paranoid or she's actually paranoid.

I do think the it's stupid how low the legal blood alcohol level is in the states but I also have lost a few friends from people who have drunk and driven. DUI is impotent but I think it's a little to limited.
