Personally I go with Index (Left Index and Right Middle fingers) and Spread (Index and Middle fingers on both hands). As for keymapping, I use the default arrow keys for Index and the numberpad (2-4-6-8) for Spread.

Overall my FA/MA is all right and quite possibly the best player on CR byfar, though I still need to confirm this statement.

You can play with more than one hand... I've just been using the arrow keys, the up+down really annoy me though, middle finger going on up and down and somehow getting it! I'm still a beginner still got any tips on a good playing style for me?

Spread is the more preferrable way if you plan on playing ridiculous files like I do. Index is also a good style as well but it takes a little while to master. Took me like a year to completely master Index before I learned Spread =/

Spread, and Index basically. Most of the time spread if I want to pass hard files, and Index if I wish to improve my scores I can't improve with spread.

Oh wow, outdated keymapping for me, rofl. I don't play the on numpad anymore since it limited my finger movement.

Index:
Arrow keys

Spread:
Q-W-O-P
D-F-J-K
D-F-5-6 (Numpad)

I've noticed that my MA and speed is better when my hands are closer to each other rather than spread apart, which is why I've been playing Q-W-O-P and D-F-J-K a lot now.

Default Spread: [q w o p]
Secondary Spread: [z x . /]

I sometimes switch between the two now. It depends on which keyboard I'm playing on (Standard PS/2 or USB).

Oh man, it's hard to play Pettanko (Left/Right Ring and Pinky fingers) but it's so fun, rofl.

P.S. Cetaka's the undisputed champion of Pettanko and beats all of us, rofl.

No.

Stepmania is meant to be played on keyboard, not dancepad.

If you want to play on a dancepad, you're better off playing MDawg's ITG for PC or going to an arcade to play DDR/ITG/PIU.

I reassure you that no one here plays Stepmania on dancepad, but there are a select few of us that actually do play ITG (e.g. myself, Hen-Thai and darkoff)

Oh nice. How good are you at ITG?

I used to play every weekday (usually 1-2 games) at the arcade, but due to the fact that the arcade closed down, I pretty much had to quit playing the game. The nearest ITG machine to my house is either at a YMCA like 15 minutes away from my home (Need a membership though, apparently) or in two other locations that are 25-30 minutes away =/

Ugh... And just when I passed my first 13 -____________-

lmfao I suck at this game.
