Ha. Take this from a Vietnamese person: v-pop sucks. Most of the Vietnamese singers just remake American songs. I used to like Trish, but now I don't like her anymore. But I like the old Vietnamese songs my mom used to sing to me as a kid. I forgot the names, but I still remember the songs that told about random things like fruit and soup, but the singers sang them well. Too bad the new Vietnamese "singers" suck.

I know exactly what you mean. Im Viet as well and I used to watch the old Paris by Night videos with my mom. They were pretty good...and the singers had this sweet romanticness to them. Nowadays its all about the hip hop and pop and the new younger singers all do these strange english interpretations of american songs.
The older artists arent very good looking but their music was heartfelt while the younger artists are super hot but dont actaully have any real talent.
Well that's my opinon at least.

-.- *nods* Yeah, my parents and my grandparents still watch Paris by Night DVDs, and they make fun of the new pop singers for not being able to come up with their own songs. It's a shame that the new Viet singers really suck. It's sad to see that it's all about the looks these days and not the talent. Seriously, what is up with people and looks? And yeah, I prefer the older Viet singers to the newer ones. I prefer talent to looks, no matter how hideous the person is. I'd rather not see some young, hot singers perform onstage but can't sing for shit, and I'd rather go deaf. >.< Well, I'd probably go deaf if I listen to them. XD

I love the little lullaby's my cousins sang when i was in Vietnam. But personally...probably the only vietnamese singer i like is Quang Le! I love his music! He can put me to sleep and i just love his melody...but seriously i'm sorry to my own culture...but some of their music doesnt sound good. Only some.

That true I'm viet too. But I can't stand listen to most of the songs they sing since most of them are way to hyper when they sing. Like Shayla (I think I spelled her name wrong) correct me if I am wrong. I went to one of her concert in Wenover when I was younger and she was every where.

HAHAHAA. I love how the people that hate V-pop are Viet themselves. That would include me. I think it's hilarious because I find V-pop repetitive and unoriginal. I've watched Paris by Night since I was 3 and my family never stops watching it. It kind of makes you resent their music a LOT.

I love eating at Vietnamese restaurants and watching whatever Paris by night-esque show. I love making fun of the unsynchronized dance moves, the lamenting voice pitching and obvious plastic surgery.

*thumbs up* definitly...although I think it doesnt help when over here on the west coast, beauty is still more important than the music itself and you know how Asia looks up to the west coast and what not. So they see how it's all about looks and how much money you have over here so they think it should be that way over there as well. We're basically corrupting their poor innocent little asian minds >_<
