I will agree that sometimes korean flicks can be better. As a Native english speaker, I enjoy watching american movies but lately they have been really crappy. Really it's all Hit or Miss. But sometimes I too say the korean movies are better.

gah. no way.
I'm Korean, and I disagree. -__-
I think American movies are better, but Korean dramas are definitely better.
American movies just have more work put into them. more of a plot, and they have good beginnings/endings. Korean movies tend to kind of drift on in a weird ending..

After spending 2 years in S.Korea I'm going to have to safely say that I still prefer American movies. There were a few I saw while around Incheon and the like that weren't too bad. But for the most part, they'd put me in a coma which is hard to do.

Granted, I don't speak Korean so I'm sure that detracted from the experience. Not saying they're bad. Just saying they generally aren't my style.

That, and I'd hate to even get close to admitting this, but the Korean language irritates the heck out of me. Mainly because they have many words that sound similar to Japanese words. So I'm trying to translate Korean words into their Japanese phonetic counterparts and then extraploating an english definition on an almost subconscious level.

I spent two years in S.Korea (split into two 1 year segments) working hand in hand with them. Nice people, it just wore on me with the whole auto-translate thing that happens in my head.

Which is my problem, not theirs~

I am Korean myself but don't take me as saying this just because I'm biased. Korean movies these days have proven to be better than Hollywood. I noticed more passion put into Korean works these days while Hollywood seems to just sell more and more to a closed-minded, superficial, and ignorant audience. I also noticed that the American media does not give a good image of Koreans nor Asians in general. They usually never get the culture right and they tend to portray them in inaccurate stereotypes.

I remember seeing James Bond: Die Another Day and the supposed "Koreans" could not speak Korean well. There was one character in there and I could not understand what the heck he was saying and I speak Korean so I know.

I like American movies but I prefer Korean dramas (and some movies). What I DON`T like is American remakes of Korean movies...like Il Mare into The Lake House. I heard they're coming out with an American My Sassy Girl too.
