Hum, let's draw a podium....
1) Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Mostly because of its setting, which reminds me of Dune and maybe the comics by french author Moebius. A great fantasy movie and a great manga as well (I recommend it to all of you, the storyline is expanded in a work of about 7 volumes with intriguing developments).
2) Spirited Away
A nice story about growth and achievement of Independence by the protagonist.
3)Princess Mononoke
Once again I liked the time and space of the story, the message is still the same and all the characters are round and show a certain complexity (maybe more than for Nausicaä, but who cares, science fiction rules

)
Grave of the Fireflies was also a candidate but it's not a race for the movie that made me cry more, so the wooden medal is fair enough.
