Storyline, then gameplay, then graphics. But everything has to run with the times. It'd be dispicable if something was brought out on the PS3 with PSX graphics. Gameplay isn't top with me because Shenmue's controls played like trying to steer a folklift at time (ironically you do that in the game), but it's expansiveness, great characters and story made it such an addictive game. However that did bless us with the greatest graphics of all time when released.

Gameplay, just because the graphics are nice doesn't mean that it will be enjoyable to play. I like graphics but if its not a fun game, I won't play. Besides, it helps me choose if I want to keep playing or not.

Seriously, for me, it's all about gameplay. With a good decent controls then the game is already fun. Jedi Knight didn't have good graphics but the gameplay is good. Super Mario Bros. 3 didn't have a good graphics but the gameplay is good. The pong video game doesn't have much of graphics and the gameplay is awesome.
Today, It's sad for most people thinking it's all about graphics. Gameplay and story is what makes a video game unique. Mario jumps and lands on an enemy's head for pwnage and the story is that he needs to save a Princess from a villain. There's no doubt that's already a good game.

but if i can customize my character like mass effects character customization or be able to see difference in pieces of armor or weapons then "graphics" adds abit to the gameplay for me.

so what your saying is that wii owners only enjoy gameplay? i own a pc i prefer my games to have value since you cant trade it in like a console games with all the piracy crap, besides the graphics are there naturally.
