Yea, because fat people are so disgusting that if I see a good anime with a fat main I'm gonna burn it. While the Japanese do look down on the chubbies, they do not equal to negative sales. Many hentai series feature bigger women, and they get great sales. Not only are they SELLING, but they are actually being preferred by the general populous as to skinny women. So my question is... if these people like to see them naked... why wouldn't people like them in a normal story? Oh, we don't know simply because an animator hasn't attempted, or it just isnt their style. Not because it won't sell.

Putting a larger person as the main character would mean bringing a real problem to the screen instead of something everyone can relate too. I'm not trying to be rude to anyone so don't go flaming me. Most anime fat or skinny deal with rejection, loss of parents, loss of love, children, being poor, being alone, and a number of other problems then they usually had loads of surrealism to overcome the obstacle. If you want to see an anime with fat people then make that manga popular. Otherwise enjoy the anime we do have, and stop all this fighting it's insane.

Since being skinny is considered a norm, there's nothing there to relate to. More people can relate to being overweight/fat than can to being skinny. More people can relate to real life tragedies than they can to the crazy generic stuff that goes on in anime. Mangaka don't create things so people can relate to the characters weight. They create to fantasize and capture their audience and for over all entertainment. Now do you want to say that creating a larger character who went through everyday things or had some crazy power just like some every other skinny character wouldn't be easily relatable because of their weight?
