Otaku
The Otaku spend large amounts of time watching anime, analyzing the plot, supporting the industry, looks at things at several different perspectives and keeps an open mind.
They can usually tell what's crap and what's not. They acknowledge the fact that it is not how many you've watched or how long you've watched, but what you've watched. They look at plot as the most important thing and are not easily tricked by the media or other anime VIEWERS at something that is clearly overrated. When on an anime thread, they give give an answer and a detailed explanation for their opinion.

Weaboo
These people are easy to find. They take up 90% of the Japanese classes you see available at school. They walk in everyday with a Naruto or Bleach shirt(most likely it hasn't been washed). They have a billion anime keychains. They say a bunch of Japanese sayings even though they have no idea what it means, but think that they do. They end your name with -chan, -kun, or -sempai. They make esoteric japanese cultural references and probably fail Japanese class. The classic anime freak loves to list a bunch of anime. They forsake all dubs to hell even though they're too busy hating on dubs that they never take the time to look for a decent one. They are usually unable to seperate between preference and sensible answers.

Anime Noob
They usually say things like this," N4ru+0 iz da B3s7!!!!"
They like to go to anime vs. threads and say," (insert anime title here) is better because I haven't seen(insert another anime title here).

*P.S.
Yes I know that an "Otaku" standards are completely different in Japan and in America, every anime fan thinks they're an otaku. I am just using the term "Otaku" because it is considered to be the highest form of anime fandom.

I am definitely an Otaku here! I dont have anything that would show that i love anime when i go out of the house. I never used the words -kun -chan or -senpai anywhere. How did you know what an otaku is??? Did you read my mind? All of the things that you said hit its mark!

Note: the only anime related item that i have is a real 6 foot sword that resembles Clare's sword from Claymore which i bought for $700 and have an interested buyer that would buy it for $800 xp. It is a real sword so it can actually kill a person xp

I guess i would be an Otaku if i had to be in a category. By the way, not all dubs are bad. Full Metal Alchemist had some awesome dubs that worked with the character.

haha Otaku, you know the actual meaning of it right? Well i would put myself between an Otaku and Anime Freak

Otaku
Otaku is the honorific word of Taku (home).

Otaku is extremely negative in meaning as it is used to refer to someone who stays at home all the time and doesn't have a life (no social life, no love life, etc)

Usually an otaku person has nothing better to do with their life so they pass the time by watching anime, playing videogames, surfing the internet (otaku is also used to refer to a nerd/hacker/programmer).

In the Western culture, people confuse otaku to be something positive like "Guru". If you think about it, it's not really good to be called a guru if it means you are a total loser who can't socialize with other people except through the Internet.

Other Japanese words which have been confused by Westerners also include but not limited to: Anime, Manga, etc

Either way, it still would represent me to an extent. I do have a life... I actually GO outside. When I'm at home though... thats basically all that i do.

^ Lol same...I don't fit any of those xD.

btw even though i made a couple of threads i don't try to go into much detail. So that i don't spoil it. Plus i take it from other ppl and credit them for the info because I'm lazy typing *nod*nod*.

I would be called a partial Otaku but it still doesn't mean i can myself a Otaku =P

I ALREADY EXPLAINED THAT!!!!
I explained that I used the term Otaku because it is usually expressed as those who have the strongest passion for anime.

It's actually cute that this guy is trying to be a smart ass when he can't understand the point of this thread.

Also, Otaku is actually someone who is an excessive fan of any on theme to a zealous extent.
What you have stated is just the stereotypical otaku.

If those definitions represents the "ultimate" of what each one is then it doesn't fit me either.

wooooo.... harsh! Though i do have some activities aside from staying home and not socialize. I actually go out of the house and perform magic. And is there even a REAL Otaku? Do people like that exist at all?

If anyone here is an ACTUAL "Otaku" Then you should probably die. Because you clearly have no meaning for existence on this earth. As to why someone would actually insult themselves and happily call themselves an "otaku" is well beyond me.
Who wants to admit to being socially inept, never leaving your house, having no friends, or any outside life from your room...honestly...it's pathetic.
I mean Jesus...if you called someone in Japan an "Otaku" they would likely punch you in the face from them being incredibly offended.

Ouch, that's so true though... what kind of person would really want to admit to that?

Actually, Otaku is just someone who has a zealous interest of any one thing, but the stereotypical Otaku pretty much has no social life and turn to extreme degrees of isolation.
