I wonder how an anime otaku would survive... what would they do to make money? Maybe they would sub animes.

Real Money Trading on World of warcraft.

Didn't they make that illegal in WOW recently?

Anyway, the point is not what word I used.

I just merely pointed out the difference between those who CLAIM to love anime, but are truly killing its progression and those who actually have reasonable intelligence.

AHHHH
Fucking Rambocambo was so obsessed with the fact that I used the word "otaku" even though I explained that it really isn't meant to mean "otaku" but those who have a stronger interest in anime. Now the entire thread is getting derailed. Fuck my life.

@Rambocambo

Yeah, but right now I'm talking about a hardcore anime otaku. Like what would they do for money. The ones who claim are probably the ones who just follow the crowd. They would be the ones who run around the mall with the Naruto head bands yelling "NARUTO OWNS YOU" but they are just making themselves look like idiots and jumping on the bandwagon. Naruto isn't all that great.

*I mean it's fine to cosplay but sometimes it's taking it a bit too far.

They get money from their parents and come out at nights to buy cups of ramen. They also use all the time they spend at home selling super rare items that they get from WOW which they apparently would be good at because they spend countless hours on it. I've seen items getting sold at $300

I'm none of the above.

I enjoy anime.
I like some shows that are wildly popular, ie Bleach, but i also like obscure shows such as Weiss Kreuz. (sorta obscure i guess)

I'm still learning about anime, but i'm not speaking in leet or retard mode for any of it.
I have an open mind about things, hell i enjoy Yaoi and Shonen-ai.

However. when i'm away from anime, you would NEVER think that i'm the way i am on this site.
IRL, i appear to be a quiet librarian type. ( I always have a book in my hand... maybe why i own over 2000 books - that was last count, need to add in the new ones i've bought over this year)

I wear normal business attire at work, and Jeans and a plain t-shirt at work.

I will be taking a japanese language class in the future, however... Mainly because i want a back up for my career and by being fluent in Japanese, i can switch sides so to speak.
(Astronomical Meteorology btw - NASA or Japan's equivelant)

Not to mention, catagorizing people is very sad.
There may be a stereotype that fits into this group, but everyone has their deviations from the description.

Who wants to admit to being socially inept, never leaving your house, having no friends, or any outside life from your room...honestly...it's pathetic.
I mean Jesus...if you called someone in Japan an "Otaku" they would likely punch you in the face from them being incredibly offended.

*Nod*Nod* lol i have to agree with this. Get a life seriously thats why anime and real life are two different things...

Hmm really they'll punch u? *Runs to japan screaming Otaku* i might do that but nah lol

Lol no. They will not actually punch you. but over in Japan it is considered an incredibly large insult to be called an "otaku"

An "otaku" just doesn't refer to anime only. It's actually used to descirbe being utterly obsessed with any one thing where the end result is as i stated above.
It's generally though used to describe obsessive anime fans because a journalist by the name of Akio Nakamori kind of coined the term when explaining these over zealous fans in a work of his.
I think it was sometime in the late 1980's if I'm not mistaken
And i think he took that from SDFM in 1982

OMFG now people.
No one get's the point of this thread.
Obviously no one is completely all of these.
If you can't understand what this thread meant then I'll explain it to you.

People on a forum who type like they actually have a brain are the best anime fans.
People on the forum who love to list things and don't now the difference between best and favorite are annoying. They are hardcore and zealous, but they're really bastardizing the anime fan community by giving us a stereotype and making us look like idiots.
The last category was added at the last second because to express that leet talk is annoying and that people love Naruto too much.

Well... you can't say no one understands this thread. I said that there are people who give anime a stereotype. Those Naruto fans that make US look like retards for watching the show. In America everyone thinks that only nerds watch anime... because of those idiots that make the show look bad.

i figured i was off by a few years. I just remember 1982's SDFM was infamous for originally using the term.
I should more so say the creators.
