Punks beat people up and goths get beaten up :)

this is so not true. my friend's cousin is goth and he's not the pushover, gets-beaten-easily type. plus, my friends are kinda punk-ish and they're not the kind of girls who would even think to beat people up.

Both styles are based on genres of music. Goth is kindof a victorian funeral based fashion with lots of lacey dark clothing or fetish (latex/bondage) gear coupled with dark makeup and dyed black hair, whereas punk is more tattered jeans, Doc Martens, vintage band tshirts, jean vests, chains, patches/pins and elaborate brightly dyed/spiked hairdos.

From what I've seen Goths wear a lot of make-up and Victorian age stuff and Punks are 'spiky' as I describe it. I don't know about the music though I've heard some 'punk' music, but I have no idea what Goth music is people have different options. As for attitude I've not sure ether poeple say it Goth=depressed not emo or negative person and Punk =rebel but thats just the stereotype.

Punk is more on the Rock Tradition.
Goths are more on their cultist type of Rocking.

...I just can't explain it. There's a huge difference between Goths and Punk.

I am under the impression that punk is political and goth is romantic.
But in all ways, how can you not tell them apart?!

Punk is actually against politics (except for some substreams of punk, but usually they are the only ones who call them selves punk and no other punk streams recognise them as punks). It's about living different, how you want. rebelling against social standarts that are forced on people.

I think Goth is dark, moody, romantic, but I'm not sure about that.

Well... punk is sort of... leather jackets, tartan, brightly-coloured tights, Doctor Marten boots, chains, brightly-coloured hair, sometimes a bit of a brash personality, and loud rock music, like the Sex Pistols or Guns 'n' Roses.

Whereas Goths are quieter, wear black, wear makeup, and tend to like a wide variety of music. From soul-metal like Nightwish, to thrash, etc.

Feel free to correct anything...
