Yeah, I beleive in what I see.

But that doesn't mean I still don't believe in things I haven't seen.

yeah, but she still didn't see me so it defies the statement "to see is to believe".

I guess, in order for me to actually believe, I do have to see it with my own eyes. And if there is a God, I'm sorry ^^; There's just no proof. The bible wasn't written by him, but of mortal hand. I can try to believe in him, but then I'll just feel foolish for worshipping someone/something that may not even exist.

Seeing isn't always 100% accurate. There are illusions. If you want to see something bad enough, you will, because the mind can play tricks on you.

The phrase is just an expression to defend skepticism... in the strictest sense, this is a bastardization of the human experience since we do not only perceive the world through our sense of sight. You do not "see" the taste of a banana, and yet you experience it and "believe" it to have this distinct quality of taste.

You don't "see" the music of your favorite rock band in your mp3 player, and yet you "believe" them to be a great group with the potential to become a sensational hit.

In short, this phrase isn't supposed to be taken seriously as a form of phenomenological debate as to the existence of a divine entity or what not, simply because it is, in itself, a very flawed statement.

But taken for what it is, no... seeing is not necessarily believing. If you want to go on a simpler level, some people believe the experience of others (otherwise called "gullible") in a form of what is called "vicarious experience". If we didn't have such experience, we wouldn't be able to anticipate our course of action if in any case we, ourselves, were to be put in similar situations.

Ergo, if you live by such a creed, you might run into the danger of thinking that your own experience justifies the truth of the universe, which is nothing but false!
