I'm sure you've all heard these phrases before at least once in your lifetimes.........

I'll sue you!, I'll see you in court!, you'll hear from my lawyer!, I'll take the shirt off of your back!, your grand children will owe me money!. Oh, I spilled coffee on my lap, due to my own negligence, nobody informed me coffee was hot, Lawsuit, I ate 10 Big Macs a week and "somehow" became obese, Lawsuit, I ignored the "Wet floor" sign in the hallway and ended up breaking my pelvis, Lawsuit

In this day and age it seems like you just can't go 5 minutes without hearing about some lawsuit, sure there are plenty enough that are valid, But a good number of them are close to, or are just flat out frivolous in nature, Good examples are those I referenced in the paragraph above, yes, believe it or not, those comments were actually based on real life lawsuits.

Why do you think we as a people have gone "Lawsuit crazy"?
What do you think of frivolous lawsuits?
What effects do you think lawsuits have in general?

Honestly, I think people are out to either gain money, or blame others for their own mistakes.
The more of these lawsuits occur, the more natural it will become. It's only going to get worse~ I don't really see how most "victims" would stop suing, even though deep down those same victims know that the fault is on their own shoulders.

Well this isn't exactly about a lawsuit but it's a similar mentality. A week ago, I barely tapped the back of an old lady's car when i was driving in a busy parking lot in front of Walmart. There was no damage other a small scratch and I apologized to her immediately but she said she had to call the cops cuz she couldn't let me just 'get away with this'. Then she asks me to call the cops for her. I try to tell her it's not that big of a deal but she was stubborn about it. So I call them and tell them to come here. While we're waiting I suggest that we get out of the road cuz we're impeding traffic but she retorts with something like "I'll wait for the cops to tell me to move my car" at which point I tell her that she's just being difficult. Eventually some Veteran who happened to be there tells her to move her car so we finally move. Then we wait another 15 minutes for the cop to come, fill out paper work and then tell us to go.

Complete waste of time and now I'll probably have to pay a bit more for insurance.

Our lawsuit culture is yet another thing that's dragging america down. Everyone is trying to get something for nothing. It's sad how if something bad happens to you at the hands of a wealthy person or organization it's viewed as the equivalent of hitting the jackpot.

Why don't we have laws that puts limits on how much one can be sued for or what type of things warrant a lawsuit? Because many of our politicians are lawyers who have benefited from this corrupt system which amounts to little more than court approved robbery. They have no intention of stopping this absurdity being as thats who made them who they are today.

Another reason I'd never vote for John Edwards (absurd haircut costs aside) - he is little more than a glorified ambulance chaser.

All in all, just one more thing contributing to this massive failure of a nation that is becoming america.

When they have the right to sue, by all means feel free to sue, But some people are just plain retarded. I swear, suing someone for something trivial is beyond stupidity. People don't know the value of lawsuits anymore. They probably think it's the answer for everything, not knowing that trivial cases are just dismissed by courts.

Wasting time, money and effort. Not to mention the humiliation one would suffer if he was the one who initiated the suite then actually lost and be liable for damages for harassment of the other party.

Stupid pricks.
