Does anyone know Shinkai Makoto? He's the creator of Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days and my personal favourite 5 Centimeters per Second. What do you think of his work and which is your favourite? Also does anyone know what his next project is?

This is a General Discussion about his anime movies and other works so feel free to talk about anything about it and post pics if you hav any!!

^ I searched but didn't find anything.

Makoto Shinkai deals with more of a mature kind of anime, not your average shounen crap. The art work is beautiful thats for sure, the colours also beautiful. The sound also beautiful, heck, its all beautiful. Personally, I'm not the kind of person to watch a romance no matter how beautiful it is so I'm not much of a fan but I do know, he is awesome. What I love most about his works would be without a doubt, the art work.

I loved Voices of a Distant Star.
Apparently, he got the idea from a similar situation.
I liked the story because I really found a way to connect with the characters. ... >_>
Stories like those, only come around once in a blue moon.

I know right! He's such an awesome story teller. The first couple minutes I was already roped in. If only I could be half as good as he is!
He's in a league that far exceeds my level of skill in stories...

I absolutely love Makoto Shinkai's films. ^_^ My favorite one is definitely 5 Centimeters Per Second; I enjoyed the story, it really moved me, and I could relate to the characters. Oh, and the animation is gorgeous. :)

(And to answer rosenkrantz: Makoto Shinkai is an anime director. Here's a list of the stuff he's done: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=3487)
