Here's my argument:
Without treatment (professional or unprofessional), I think acne increases the more you think about the opposite gender.

Personally, I always find that no pimples *ever* come out during periods when I stay away from lewd thoughts (like studying for finals). When my mind is in the opposite direction, I can usually expect pimples to come out after a few days.

I also find that people that act more lewd (expecially men because we don't believe in cosmetic related products) have more acne.

I understand that there are many scientific evidence around this that argue against my statement. However, experience has made me skeptical. Also, I would think that doing a stable scientific experiment with this is nearly impossible. You can't read the mind and expect people to tell the truth.

From what I've seen around me (guys) those who are lewd usually are too preoccupied with their... habits that they forget to take good care of their skin.

Then again of course there are certain things you'll have to take in factor - genes, skin type, skincare regime, hygiene...

Also I think you're confusing stress with "lewd" thoughts. I've always thought of the word lewd in the sexual sense. I think stress is the actual cause in those cases.

No, else my face would be similar to the moon during exam weeks.

Also, remember that I said "without treatment" that includes skincare.
So you can't bring in the people that puts priority to their skin as evidence.

I am asking to see if there's some correlation, not the exceptions. My dad says he never had acne either. But he's a strange type (AB blood type, can eat stale food without throwing up, etc...).

Genes + puberty/hormones then?

I think the need to satisfy your sexual desires are a by-product of raging hormones (which increases oil/sebum secretion)... and what follows next is the whole lewd thought occurance.

Hmm.

*Should just dig up her old bio textbook*

Really? My biology textbook contradicts your statement along with this page
http://www.internethealthlibrary.com/Health-problems/Acne.htm

I don't know if that's a reliable site (first result off internet) but my biology textbook is.
But then again, maybe your textbook is up to date and therefore, is of better quality than mine (I feel old now as 19).

I'm actually not sure... cos this is what I was taught during my bio lessons during the whole puberty issue and stuff. (Bio textbook was published in 2003) =x

(Btw I'm 19 too, ah geez.)

Causes Of Acne:
Hormonal activity, such as menstrual cycles and puberty
Stress, through increased output of hormones from the adrenal (stress) glands.
Hyperactive sebaceous glands, secondary to the three hormone sources above.
Accumulation of dead skin cells.
Bacteria in the pores, to which the body becomes 'allergic'.
Skin irritation or scratching of any sort will activate inflammation.
Use of anabolic steroids.
Any medication containing halogens (iodides, chlorides, bromides), lithium, barbiturates, or androgens.
Exposure to high levels of chlorine compounds, particularly chlorinated dioxins, can cause severe, long-lasting acne, known as Chloracne.

Misconceptions About Causes:
Diet. One flawed study purported that chocolate, french fries, potato chips and sugar, among others, affect acne. Consuming quality products can prevent acne.[1]A recent review of scientific literature cannot affirm either way.[2]The consensus among health professionals is that acne sufferers should experiment with their diets, and refrain from consuming such fare if they find such food affects the severity of their acne.[3]A recent study, based on a survey of 47,335 women, did find a positive epidemiological association between consumption of particularly skimmed milk and acne.[4]The researchers hypothesize that the association may be caused by hormones (such as bovine IGF-I) present in cow milk; but this has not been definitively shown. Seafood, on the other hand, may contain relatively high levels of iodine, but probably not enough to cause an acne outbreak. Still, people who are prone to acne may want to avoid excessive consumption of foods high in iodine. It has also been suggested that there is a link between a diet high in refined sugars and acne. According to this hypothesis, the startling absence of acne in non-westernized societies could be explained by the low glycemic index of these tribes' diets.[5]Further research is necessary to establish whether a reduced consumption of high-glycemic foods (such as soft drinks, sweets, white bread) can significantly alleviate acne, though consumption of high-glycemic foods should in any case be kept to a minimum, for general health reasons.[6]
Deficient personal hygiene. Acne is not caused by dirt. This misconception probably comes from the fact that acne involves skin infections. In fact, the blockages that cause acne occur deep within the narrow follicle channel, where it is impossible to wash them away. These plugs are formed by the cells and sebum created there by the body. The bacteria involved are the same bacteria that are always present on the skin. Regular cleansing of the skin can reduce, but not prevent, acne for a particular individual and very little variation among individuals is due to hygiene. Anything beyond very gentle cleansing can actually worsen existing lesions and even encourage new ones by damaging or overdrying skin.
Sex. Common myths state that masturbation causes acne and, conversely, that celibacy or sexual intercourse can cure it. There has been no scientific evidence suggesting that any of these are factual.

Happy?

While I was in grade school, they bombarded me with those puberty information stuff and it all said that acne wasn't related with sexuality. This is why I brought up the discussion. I strongly believe in my position though.

EDIT
Crapload of information. Could you please narrow it down to which is relevant to our discussion?
Also, my argument is that acne is caused directly by lewd thoughts and your post leads to absolutely no conclusions. I quote
"Sex. Common myths state that masturbation causes acne and, conversely, that celibacy or sexual intercourse can cure it. There has been no scientific evidence suggesting that any of these are factual."

Which leaves this topic open for debate.
