So heres the problem. The car has a 60-1, 28psi, large fmic, 960cc, bosch 044, 272s, tial bov and a full tuning device.. Now the problem with my car is its running extremely rich. Boost response is crappy and the car feels sluggish. In between a hard shift or medium the car bogs down and almost stalls it self out. The motor was dropped in a few days go. Just so you guys know. Timing is also low, In the lower to mid teens, dont know why.. Can anybody figure out the problem???

try adjusting your A/F mixture dude....but im not so sure...usually, if a engine is running extremely rich, that means that the A/F mix is unbalanced....too much fuel to air ratio. correct me if im wrong, though.. or your using low octane fuel.....what's you're car's minimum fuel octane?

Octane value has nothing to do with afr's. Octane value is seen as resistance to preignition and knock resistance. All gasoline has a stoichiometric ratio of 14.7:1. By adujsting the afr you are only covering up the problem instead of solving it. I could of easily dropped my afrs down to 11:1 but that would only mask some of it.

Hmmm...So im going to think out loud for a bit. You have a lean mixture currently. You said the isc and fiav both are in perfect working order. Tune up was previously performed so fuel filter is new. Pressure was good and injectors were cleaned. Hmm.. Is your car a maf based vehicle or a speed density vehicle? If a maf based I could see a semi clogged maf becoming a problem. With the unit not being able to correctly calculate the full amount of oxygen passing through.

Well, o2 is out of the equation since a faulty sensor would make the vehicle run rich instead of lean....Hmmm..coolant temp sensor should also be ruled out as that leads to enrichment.

Perhaps a vaccum leak? post throttle body if its a speed density type setup or at after the pentium?..

Im kinda stumped...Im still thinking though....I bet you its something stupid too isnt it pookie?

Aha yeah...it threw me for a huge loop.
Lets see....my car is a MAF based vehicle...
And you're on the right track somewhere in there. Aha.

So is your intake leak the cause for your lean condition? and that extra airflow the that the car is reading is bumping your idle up while the fiav is fighting to control it?.. Im stumped on the idle surging.

Aha.
It turned out that the idle surge was of a cracked throttle body gasket...causing unmetered air to flow in.
It was pretty cheap quality, it was like it was made from plastic.
So yeah, you were pretty much right.

You should probably go back to page two and read the second post on that page.
