Are you offended by the term "weeaboo"?
Posted 10/22/07
obviously... I'm really bad at phrasing stuff... but I'll try to be as clear as I can....

crunchyroll's a place for all kinds of Asian media... and I'm sure it's filled with people who enjoy watching and listening to it, despite not being asian.

weeaboos... a euphemism for wapanese...
wapanese usually used to describe someone who's obsessed with the japanese culture, but not japanese....
weeaboo, on the other hand... It's the same... but most use it to describe people who say that they're hardcore anime fans, despite not knowing quality from crap and usually bitch about how english dubs suck ass... among other things ⌐_⌐;; (oh yeah... the emoticons too... but I'll let that slide...) plus... they think they're fluent in Japanese based on watching only anime. And in some cases, they're completely ignorant of the Japanese culture and base all their knowledge on anime....¬_¬;;.....

I use the term a lot though... and I'm wondering if I offended anyone...
I'm not exactly sure if I got it right though...

would you be offended if someone called you a weeaboo?

Yea I would be offended by that term. I don't claim myself to be fluent in japanese or even know their culture. I'm just a anime fan that's all

Not really. I probably am one but I don't pretend to be fluent in Japanese or know their culture. I do watch a lot of anime and aren't a fan of dubs...(most of the ones aired where I am have really bad voice actors and it drives me crazy but some are good). So yeah, I'm not offended by that at all.

hm..
well i prefer weeaboo to be a compliment unless used in a sarcastic way
i prefer English subs then Dubs because i get to read it
but on the other hand Wit the dubs i can see most of the action that has happened before i finished reading it

If someone called me a weeaboo, I'll just stare at them for a long time and walk away.

I'm sorry but I just had to say this. That word sounds like weebly wobbly.

and on topic, I think people would. Whenever someones accused of being somehting they're aren't they'll probably get mad. XD but then again, what do I know?

Me a weaboo? Hell yeah I'd be offended.
Of course, if they called me a weaboo, I probably said something REALLY stupid.
That's the common trait of all weaboo. They say stuff that are REALLY stupid.

I am very offened at the term Weaboo and Wapanese. Because people do that do catagorize ALL anime fans, and that pisses me off.

But, why hate people for what they are interested in.

Personally, I would be wuite offended, but I would brush it off because its not true. I just like watching anime. Its interesting that's all, watching anime taught me several japanease words, but I dont claim to be fluent, that would just be stupid.
