Okay I can sorta understand where wapanese comes from....but how the hell did anyone come up with weeaboo? Most derogatory stereotypes typically get generalized...so I can see why some ppl would consider all anime fans a "weeaboo/wapanese" who are non jap.

Really, I think weeaboos are a pretty crappy bunch, but I mostly take that term to refer to those who also idolize Japan and its culture, its not that great, it's just another country.

Where did the term "weeaboo" come from anyways?

if somone just likes anime and manga then thats cool. But there are other people who go overboard with liking a different culture. That person who goes overboard with the japanese cutlure is called a weeaboo or wapanese.

isn't it kind of petty/childish to slap labels like that on people anyway?

it makes those doing the name-calling come off as kind of egotistical, plus it creates unnecessary divisions.

what is the point, except to make someone feel inferior?

i prefer English subs then Dubs because i get to read it
but on the other hand Wit the dubs i can see most of the action that has happened before i finished reading it

Wait, it IS a sarcastic term in the first place. There's no way you could think of it as a compliment. It's like saying " I prefer to think of "idiot" as a compliment".

Anyway...yeah I wouldn't like someone to call me a weaboo or wapanese, because I'm not cosplaying, kawaii-instead-of-cute-saying-because-it's-the-only-Japanese-word-anyway idiot. I just enjoy a good plot and animation and I don't think I'm fucking L >.< But then again, I think the most offended are the ones which really are weeaboos.

^I don't see how that makes you come off as egoistical. Calling someone a weeaboo might be the only thing left to do to make them realize that they're completely lost in a world of idiocy. Although in most cases there seems to be no cure.

Not necessarily. I mean, a lot of people like being categorized under geek, because of their obsessions over anime, video games, etc. So why should wapanese be offensive?

I guess I can see why weeaboo is offensive, after all, the topic poster said weeaboos are classified as people who can't tell a good anime nor bad anime a part, someone who says their fluent in Japanese because they watch anime, and someone who is ignorant of Japanese culture. So that is offensive, but the term wapanese isn't, because that's just an obession over Japanese culture.
